My daughter has been at this childcare for almost three years, and we couldn’t be happier. The teachers show genuine love and patience, while also guiding with the right discipline. Their events, from the annual Christmas concert to the final graduation party are always heartfelt. We’re truly grateful for all they’ve done!

About Red Robin Kindergarten

Red Robin Kindergarten is a private long day care centre that provides engaging and fun learning opportunities for children aged from two to five years of age. A committed and caring team focuses on play-based learning, helping children develop the confidence, independence and emotional skills they need for a happy start to primary school.

The team works to provide a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe and secure. The comfortable interiors feature bright colours, children’s art on display, and a rich range of resources for learning, while small sofas and rugs add to the cosy atmosphere. Educators present exciting activities that foster children’s curiosity and creativity.

The centre has a brand new playground designed for fun and adventure all year round. The well-shaded yard features raised forts and slippery slides, a small climbing wall, dedicated bike paths, lush lawns and gardens. Children develop and refine their gross motor and physical skills with regular activities, exploration and discovery.

Centrally located in Eastwood, the centre is easily reached by car or public transport. Why not book a tour of this inviting and enriching centre today?

Programs

Programs

The centre offers a play-based and interest-based program to help children learn naturally and effectively. Children’s learning becomes meaningful when they are free to learn at their own rate and in their own way.

With the centre’s play-based program, children have the opportunity to come together as a group, listen when others are talking, follow the rules of group living, such as sharing, and begin to take responsibility for their actions and their environment. This helps children develop emotional and social skills in a welcoming, calm and non-competitive environment.

Preschool

The preschool program is embedded into everyday routines and practices, so children are building their confidence, knowledge and skills to transition effectively into ‘Big School’.

Rather than rigid routines that have children sitting and listening for long periods, educators instead focus on building practical skills whilst children play, that help them transition to kindergarten at ease and ready to learn. These include:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy (counting, recognising numbers, beginning to write own name, asking questions and providing answers)
  • Confidence
  • Persistence
  • Organisation
  • Social skills
  • Independence
  • Resilience
Meet the team

Meet the team

The centre believes its team of passionate, diverse and qualified educators are its most precious resource. Each team member brings fundamental qualities and skills to the service and is genuinely caring and committed to providing the best for every child.

The dedicated team work together to support and encourage one another in providing and optimising learning opportunities for children. Educators also take part in regular professional development to expand their knowledge and skills in the early childhood sector.

The centre acknowledges that valuing and acknowledging the important role of educators is at the heart of high quality education and care.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

The centre recognises, values and supports families in the important role they have in their children’s lives. It actively works to establish strong partnerships based on mutual trust, where educators and families can work together to help children receive the very best care, and thrive.

Families are encouraged to speak with educators on a regular basis to give feedback on the current program, share any ideas and communicate the child’s current interests and needs.

Parents and carers also receive an email each Monday morning encouraging them to share what they have done over the weekend so that educators can incorporate aspects of this into activities.

To further streamline communication, the centre invites all parents to use the Kindyhub SmartPhone app, which features regular activity updates, centre news, and photos. Families can communicate directly with educators on the app, and also share photos and videos directly from phones.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The centre provides the highest standards of care and education, with a play based curriculum guided by the Early Year Learning Framework. The team values the uniqueness of each child and family and ensures that individual needs are met. With a child centered approach and a strong emphasis on play, the centre aims to help children develop their independence, resilience and sense of agency, with a focus on social and emotional development.

Individual Learning

Within the first 6 weeks of starting at the centre, every child is given an individualised learning goal. Educators then plan experiences (available to view on the program) and document children’s individual progress towards their goal. Every 3 months, or sooner if individual goals are reached, educators provide a summary of a child’s learning and progress.

Age-specific learning

The centre has two dedicated rooms for age-specific learning. This helps educators provide enriching and tailored care and activities, and ensures every child feels safe, secure and comfortable.

  • Penguins Room (2-3.5yrs)
  • Dolphins Room  (3.5-5yrs)

Our family has been at Red Robin for four years now. I cannot speak highly enough of the owner, manager and staff. My children have been so loved and nurtured. They’ve learnt so much. They’re absolutely incredible at managing neurodiverse children which is rare within the childcare sector. They have also continued to provide support for my eldest as she has transitioned to primary school, as well as providing myself emotional support as the parent. As a mother who is very anxious about entrusting my children with others, they’ve been everything I could’ve hoped for.

We love Red Robin Kindergarten! We have been at the centre since 2022 with my 2 boys. Things we love: - The staff are kind and caring. - Great educational programs, including lots of theme weeks to make learning fun (eg. Under the sea week, colours week etc).and a good school readiness program. - Clear communication through emails - daily summary and photos, and lots of reminders about upcoming events. - Wonderful learning environment with lots of great toys and activities - Fantastic outdoor area. It recently got updated - fun play equipment, sandpit, covered deck, massive shade cloth, track for trikes, lots of space to run around. - Small centre with just 2 rooms. The educators know each child and care for each one. - Option of short or long days. This is great for us as we just wanted to do preschool hours and so don't have to pay for long days. - Fantastic director who is passionate about caring for kids and helping them learn and thrive. She is warm and friendly and takes the time to get to know each child and family.
