We absolutely loved our time at Jane’s Place—it was everything we could have hoped for in a daycare and more. From the very beginning, we felt so welcomed by the team. The environment is warm, nurturing, and above all, safe. It gave us such peace of mind knowing our daughter was in such good hands every day. The activities were incredibly thoughtful and engaging—our daughter was always excited to go in the morning and full of stories when she came home. The staff went above and beyond to make sure she felt comfortable, especially during those early days when she was still adjusting. Their care and attention made all the difference. Every single teacher we interacted with was exceptional, but we especially want to give a heartfelt thank you to Cheryl, who was our daughter’s room teacher the entire time. Cheryl is truly a gem—kind, patient, and so clearly passionate about what she does. We absolutely adored her. We recently had to move out of the area, and one of the hardest parts was saying goodbye to Jane’s Place. If we ever return, there’s no question we’d come back in a heartbeat.

Jane's Place has four wonderful rooms. Each is individually designed to create a home-away-from-home feel and reflects our positive approach to learning. Each room flows out to our sun-safe outdoor play area, allowing for play to go uninterrupted throughout the day.

At Jane's Place ELC, we are aware of the importance of good beginnings and are committed to creating a caring and educational learning environment where your child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Jane’s Place Alexandria’s newly renovated, purpose-built ELC provides unique learning spaces that focus on families' and children’s individual needs while providing homely, nurturing and educationally focused environments.

We support each child’s growing needs and interests whilst providing a solid grounding for future transitions into school life.

Our highly trained and motivated staff guide and provide children with a secure and holistic approach to Early Childhood, which draws upon a wide range of teaching philosophies and techniques.

The homely and nurturing environments initially focus on settling-in each child. This is a priority in the early days of your child’s care and will vary according to each child, and their needs. We believe a settled child is a relaxed child, allowing them to reach their potential while feeling fully supported in all aspects of their development. This fosters their own self-esteem and self-confidence.

Our caring and relaxed environment enhances all key areas of your child’s development, and most importantly supports the development of friendships and empathy in a caring environment.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is a National Early Learning Framework for children from birth to school age.

The EYLF framework ensures that every child receives a quality educational program. Educators at Jane's Place use the framework with the help of family input to develop learning programs open to children's ideas, interests, strengths and abilities and recognise that children learn through their play.

The Early Years Learning Framework describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming.

Programs

Programs

At Jane's Place, we offer an inclusive program, supporting the families' home and cultural practices where possible allowing us to recognise and respect an individual's faiths and needs. We discuss these needs early on to ensure we meet the child's needs. We invite parents to participate in our program - to share skills, interests, and knowledge, and to participate in the development of their child actively.

We also offer an extensive Creative Program, where children absorb and develop their base knowledge through all aspects of life and learning through an interactive, culturally rich and diverse range of activities and programs.

All areas of your child’s development are guided and supported by a child-focused/educator-guided weekly program.

Our educators deliver an interest-based program by linking children’s interests with a teacher-directed curriculum. This allows us to provide a tailored program that meets each child’s learning needs.

Information is gathered through observations and daily communication to better understand each child's needs and interests and develop a program appropriate to each child and the setting.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

An integral part of our program is our continual communication, consultation and collaboration with families. This is achieved by;

Welcoming families to join us in planned activities and are made aware of our open-door policy.

Sharing information with families about our perspectives, beliefs and values; our knowledge of the child's daily experiences; the child's ideas, interests and overall progress; the ways in which we respond to children and how we guide the evolution of the program. This is achieved through verbal communication, written daily documentation, meetings, displays, newsletters and our online software program and documentation process allowing families and carers to view this information from outside our centre.

Seeking information from families regarding their beliefs, perspectives and values; goals for their children; children's interests and experiences within the context of their home.

This information is reflected in the program and in the environment by actively using resources brought in by families, ensuring that resources within the environment reflect children's interests and home experiences.

Respecting families’ individual comfort levels and preferences about how they would like to be involved; for example, families may prefer involvement within daily experiences; meetings or making suggestions and giving feedback or any number of these.

Programs

Programs

Our expansive areas for open-ended play with large or small groups of children encourage the development of your child’s gross motor skills, as well as combining more quiet and informal areas needed throughout the busy days of activities and socialisation.

We are fortunate to have extensive grassed areas, sandpits which provide many wonderful learning experiences for the children and cubbies allowing for open-ended dramatic play.

The outdoor environment also offers the discovery and exploration of nature and its many wonders through our Herb and Vegetable Garden. Children have the opportunity to grow and harvest some ingredients for our kitchen and have exposure to and participation in the sequence of recycling. This element of our program fosters appreciation and respect for natural environments and living things.

Hi jane, don’t know if your remember me but I went to this preschool about 9 or 10 years ago. I remember how it used to be in south Coogee and I was quite surprised that you guys actually moved to Alexandria. I remember all the fun things we used to do back in the day with Ms Natalie and the others, don’t know if Ms Natalie still works there but she was one of my best teachers To be remembered from Alessio You guys should bring your children here, the people who work there are very very nice

Response from the owner 02 Mar 2025

Jane’s Place is truly in a league of its own—an exceptional centre that I can’t recommend highly enough. The facilities, equipment, and activities are impressive, clean and well kept. We’ve been consistently impressed with the care, service, and genuine affection Jane and her team provide our daughter and to us as well. It’s unlike anything we’ve experienced. Jane’s Place feels like an extension of our family. Our daughter has flourished intellectually, socially, and emotionally under the care of her educators. They are consistent, clearly passionate about their work, the children, and creating a safe, happy environment. Their ability to form an instant bond with our daughter—through humor, calm and kind words, and genuine affection—made the difficult drop-offs much easier. The activities are engaging, educational, and purposeful, with a wonderful variety . The attention to detail in their service is exceptional, and the thoughtfully planned menu reassures me that our daughter is eating healthy, balanced meals. The communication is outstanding- clear, detailed, and frequent. The learning updates feel authentic and personalised, and the regular events and celebrations foster a strong sense of connection with the kids and families.. Compared to our previous centre (part of a chain), we’ve noticed far fewer sicknesses and incident reports, highlighting the exceptional care, cleanliness, and management at Jane’s Place. As a working mum, I feel less guilt knowing my daughter is safe, happy, and thriving in such a loving environment. Jane and her team have truly created something special here. 10/10—highly recommend!
