I just wanted to share how incredibly grateful we are for the care our 1-year-old. As first-time parents, it was a big step to entrust someone else with our baby’s well-being, but we couldn’t be happier with our decision. Thank you for being such an important part of our little one’s life and making this first year such a positive experience. We truly appreciate all the effort, patience, and heart you bring every day. speical thanks to teacher Tanya, Joyce and the director Merika.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

At Nest and Nurture Early Learning at Lindfield, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, foster a love for learning, and support the holistic development of every child. We provide a structured yet flexible approach to education, ensuring that children are actively engaged in meaningful and age-appropriate experiences that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

Play-Based Learning with Purpose

Our educational programs are rooted in a play-based learning philosophy, where children explore, create, and discover through hands-on experiences. Play is the foundation for cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, and we use it as a tool to promote problem-solving, creativity, and independent thinking.

Structured Learning & School Readiness

While play is at the heart of our approach, we also incorporate structured learning experiences to help children build essential skills for school and beyond. Our programs include intentional teaching practices, small group activities, and guided learning experiences that encourage children to engage with concepts in a meaningful way.

Pre-Literacy & Pre-Numeracy Skills

In our preschool years, we place a strong emphasis on pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills, ensuring children develop a solid foundation before transitioning to school. Our curriculum includes:

  • Early Literacy Development: Storytelling, phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and vocabulary-building activities that encourage a love for reading and language.
  • Early Numeracy Concepts: Counting, pattern recognition, measurement, and problem-solving activities that enhance mathematical thinking.
  • Fine Motor & Cognitive Development: Activities such as drawing, cutting, and tracing to strengthen hand-eye coordination and prepare children for writing.

Holistic Development & Learning Areas

Our curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child, incorporating key learning areas:

  • Social & Emotional Development: Encouraging positive relationships, self-regulation, and resilience.
  • STEAM Learning: Introducing early concepts of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through exploration and inquiry.
  • Creative Arts & Expression: Music, dance, visual arts, and drama to enhance creativity and self-expression.
  • Health & Physical Wellbeing: Gross motor activities, outdoor play, and healthy lifestyle education to support active development.
  • Cultural Awareness & Diversity: Celebrating different cultures, languages, and traditions to foster inclusivity and respect.

Individualised Learning & Educator Guidance

We recognise that every child is unique, and our educators tailor learning experiences to suit each child's interests, strengths, and developmental needs. Our Early Childhood Teachers, Diploma, and Certificate III educators work collaboratively to create a supportive and enriching environment, ensuring all children feel confident and capable in their learning journey.

Family Partnerships & Community Connections

At Little Amigos, we believe that education is a shared journey between families and educators. We encourage open communication, family involvement, and a strong sense of community, working together to provide the best possible start for every child.

Through our carefully designed curriculum and engaging educational programs, we ensure that children leave Little Amigos with the skills, confidence, and curiosity to embrace the next stage of their learning journey.

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

At Nest and Nurture Early Learning at Lindfield, our School Readiness Program is designed to equip children with the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm they need for a smooth and successful transition to formal schooling. We understand that starting school is a significant milestone, and our program ensures that each child is well-prepared in all areas of development—social, emotional, cognitive, and physical.

A Balanced Approach to Learning

Our School Readiness Program integrates a structured and play-based approach, creating a balance between guided learning experiences and hands-on exploration. Through engaging activities, children develop essential pre-academic and life skills while fostering a love for learning.

Key Focus Areas in School Readiness

1. Pre-Literacy & Language Development

Language and communication are fundamental to learning, and we embed rich literacy experiences into daily activities:

  • Letter recognition & phonemic awareness – Learning letter sounds and formations through songs, stories, and interactive activities.
  • Vocabulary & language development – Expanding children’s understanding and use of language through storytelling, discussions, and role-playing.
  • Emergent writing skills – Encouraging name writing, letter formation, and fine motor activities that strengthen pre-writing skills.
  • Listening & comprehension – Developing focus and active listening through engaging group discussions, storytelling, and question-based learning.

2. Pre-Numeracy & Early Mathematical Concepts

Building foundational numeracy skills ensures children are ready to grasp mathematical concepts in school:

  • Counting & number recognition – Understanding numbers, sequences, and basic math concepts through songs, games, and real-life applications.
  • Patterns, sorting & classification – Encouraging logical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on activities.
  • Measurement & spatial awareness – Introducing concepts like size, weight, and position through interactive play.

3. Social & Emotional Development

Emotional intelligence and social skills are just as important as academic preparation for school success:

  • Self-regulation & independence – Encouraging children to follow routines, manage emotions, and take responsibility for tasks.
  • Cooperation & teamwork – Developing the ability to share, take turns, and work collaboratively with peers.
  • Confidence & resilience – Helping children develop problem-solving skills and the confidence to navigate new environments.

4. Fine & Gross Motor Development

A strong body supports a strong mind, and we focus on both fine and gross motor skills:

  • Fine motor skills – Strengthening hand muscles through drawing, cutting, threading, and writing practice.
  • Gross motor skills – Enhancing coordination, balance, and strength through physical activities, obstacle courses, and outdoor play.

5. Independence & Self-Help Skills

Preparing children to manage daily school routines with confidence:

  • Personal care & hygiene – Encouraging independence in toileting, handwashing, and dressing.
  • Following instructions & routines – Practicing listening, following multi-step directions, and transitioning between activities.
  • Problem-solving & decision-making – Supporting children in thinking critically and making choices in various situations.

Family Partnerships & School Engagement

We believe that a child’s school readiness journey is a collaborative effort between families, educators, and the wider community. We keep families engaged through:

  • Regular progress updates & parent meetings to discuss children’s development.
  • Workshops & school transition information sessions to help families prepare for the next step.
  • Connections with local schools to familiarize children with expectations and routines.

Through our comprehensive School Readiness Program, children at Little Amigos gain the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm needed to transition smoothly into formal schooling. We ensure that every child feels prepared, excited, and capable as they take their next big step into the world of learning.

  • Fresh, seasonal ingredients – Prioritising whole foods, fruits, and vegetables.
  • Balanced meals – Including a variety of proteins, grains, and dairy to support overall development.
  • Encouraging independence – Teaching children’s self-help skills like feeding themselves and trying new foods.

Little Amigos is such a wonderful centre and i loved having my daughter there for 3 years, in all three different sections of the centre. The educators are exceptionally caring and also have a focus on behaviour, curriculum, diversity and school preparation, and the centre director is amazing. The team are very stable which is such a comforting environment for the children to really get to know everyone. They have great facilities and a wonderful large outdoor area. I would highly recommend to anyone.
