We have humble beginnings and solid foundations. Established in 1981 as the Illawarra Children’s Services Action Group, we sought to bring positive, lasting change to the Illawarra region through active campaigning for the rights of families to affordable early education and care.
Big Fat Smile is a not-for-profit community-owned, industry leading provider of child education, care, recreation, cultural and inclusion services in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
Fast forward 38-years, and we have grown into one of the largest and most respected providers of early education and inclusion services in our region. We exist for children and families, working to provide access to the highest quality early education and care in Australia. In fact, quality is central to everything we do.
As a not for profit organisation, under its Constitution, Big Fat Smile has members rather than shareholders. Anyone can apply for membership and a copy of the Constitution by contacting our Corrimal Head Office on 4283 9900 and requesting to speak to the Company Secretary or emailing companysecretary@bigfatsmile.com.au The annual membership fee is currently $5.00. Only a financial member of Big Fat Smile can vote at the AGM. All nominations for a Board director position must also be a financial member.
At Kiama Downs Community Preschool, we have a large natural newly renovated outdoor yard which offers all the children a large open space that is full of beautiful play spaces, natural resources and interesting areas to explore and learn. We also have two open beautiful indoor play rooms for children aged 0-3 years and 3-5years.
We have an established reputation in our local community and build strong connections to our local schools and focus on a smooth transition to school for all children
Our programs reflect the children’s interests and encourages every child to be active and capable learners.
Retention of staff long term who value family connections and strong relationships with the children and an active P&F committee and strong relationships with families
