Hastings Preschool & Long Day Care Centre was built in 1986 as a not-for-profit centre that provides care and educational programs for children aged 0 to 6 years.

Our centre complies with the National Quality Standards, the Early Years Learning Framework and the services policies and procedures.

We aspire to the values of Reggio Emilia based on the hundred languages of children and acknowledge children’s learning and being in one hundred ways, one hundred thoughts and one hundred actions. We acknowledge the impact of climate change and work towards making changes in practices that support a more sustainable future.

We strive to create an environment where educators, children and families feel valued and respected. An environment where strengths are encouraged, where the voice of each child is heard, and each child is supported in reaching their potential.

Our programmes support a safe and unhurried environment where children’s creativity and imagination flourish and inclusive practice extends to working for equity in our learning programs. Our staff respect and embrace differences and consult with families and community to embed culture into our learning practices. Aboriginal culture is highly regarded where ongoing education and consultation assist us in developing deeper understanding. We strive to build strong connections with each family and welcome our families to be involved in the Centre as a community.

We believe through ongoing learning and reflective practice we can continuously improve on all aspects of caring for and educating children and believe wholeheartedly that successful learning must be age appropriate, enjoyable and collaborative.
