Our high-quality, play based preschool curriculum is delivered by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Our teachers tailor their programs to ensure all children develop the confidence and social and emotional skills needed for a smooth transition to school. Through play, our Early Childhood Teachers facilitate children’s learning of important language, literacy, numeracy and creative skills.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.
Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. Hi there! I'm Kelly and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Kensington.
I have been in the early learning and child care industry since 2008 and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.
During my career I have had the opportunity to work with different age groups and across the variety of areas in the industry; I have also worked throughout the United Kingdom.
I am passionate about children’s learning and I have a strong belief that parents are the experts of their children.
We have a strong focus on supporting families to be advocates for their children and their learning. As an extension of your family the goal at Goodstart Kensington is to provide an environment where children can flourish.
The team I am fortunate to work with shares my passion for seeing children meet their potential. They are dedicated, professional, experienced and highly qualified.

Good Start Kensington is hands down the best daycare in the eastern suburbs. The educators are selfless, educated and empathetic. My two daughters have been there for four years and I can’t speak hardly enough of this establishment. Kellie and the rest of the team have nailed it.

Finding a daycare that feels like an extension of your own home is rare, but that is exactly what this place is. From day one, it has felt like one big family.<br><br>Everyone here truly knows each other, creating such a warm, welcoming community. The educators don't just "watch" the kids—they genuinely care. They go above and beyond to make sure every child feels settled, safe, and happy.<br><br>What impresses me most is how deeply they know each child. They take the time to understand individual routines, comfort measures, and unique interests, weaving those into daily activities. They are constantly encouraging the kids to explore and challenging their curiosity in the best possible ways.<br>I couldn't ask for a better, more supportive environment for my child to learn and grow. Huge thanks to the amazing team for everything you do every single day!

We love Goodstart Kensington! Our children have attended since they turned 1, and the educators have been so wonderful. They make sure every child feels welcome from the moment they arrive, with educators and friends calling out hello so excitedly, making it feel like a little family. Drop offs were so much easier when my children went together as siblings are invited into eachother’s room and play together throughout the day. The layout of the centre is very good as it is leafy, quiet and shady, and children are encouraged to play outside in the fresh air as much as possible, which was very important to me. There is a chef onsite who, we have been told, is a much better cook than we are! The educators go above and beyond for the children, celebrating graduations, birthdays and festivals with so much effort, and this makes every child feel a strong sense of belonging. It’s a not for profit organisation which truly does put children first. They are also so flexible about rearranging days around public holidays etc.

Both of our kids have attended Goodstart Kensington from Nursery, and one has now graduated to primary school. The team of educators are amazing and spend a lot of time arranging various activities from cooking to arts and craft - at one point they even turned the preschool room into an airplane and issued passports to all the kids. We always feel welcome and have full trust that our kids are consistently getting great care and education. Would definitely recommend to other parents.
