Our high-quality, play based preschool curriculum is delivered by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Our teachers tailor their programs to ensure all children develop the confidence and social and emotional skills needed for a smooth transition to school. Through play, our Early Childhood Teachers facilitate children’s learning of important language, literacy, numeracy and creative skills.

This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Hi all my name is Shanshan Peng and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Semaphore Park.
I have been with Goodstart for 11 years, during which I have worked as a Kindergarten Teacher for 10 years, with one year of experience in a role as the Teacher Mentor and two years of experience in a Centre Leadership Role.
I have a strong focus on relationships with children, with a focus on fostering the social and emotional wellbeing of our children. I believe that positive and trusting relationships are the foundation in children’s development. I am enthusiastic in quality early childhood practice and rich learning environment to support children’s learning and development.
Collaboration, respect and kindness are my personal values. I believe that collaborative relationships with children, families and the Centre team members are fundamentally important to high quality early childhood education.
I am committed and dedicated to develop trusting and reciprocal relationships with children, families and the dedicated centre team at Goodstart Semaphore Park.

My son is quite sensitive and takes time to settle in new environments. The nursery educators have been incredibly patient, gentle and supportive in helping him feel safe and comfortable. Their care and understanding have made a big difference for our family. Communication has also been great, and we always feel reassured. We’re very grateful for the team and highly recommend this centre.

I can not recommend goodstart semaphore Park enough, being a educator my self i chose to put my youngest son into a different center then me and they did nothing but make it such a easy journey for my self and my son. My son absolutely loves the director and his kindy teacher. (Also loves every other educator he has met on his journey) We where support as individuals and as a family! The center has such a home feeling and we where greeted with smiles every vist 🙂 highly recommended

Would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful centre, my child attended for two years full time from the age of two and a half to four and a half, and during that time he developed close relationships with a number of educators in the centre who have genuinely cared for and nurtured my child. My child has loved his time at Goodstart semaphore park, where he has so many educational activities and is often amazing us with the things he has learnt there. The centre has a community feel to it and nice facilities including a generously sized outdoor play area with plenty of space. The educators seem very happy there too, there has been very little turnover over the past few years. Thank you for everything semaphore park we will miss you all!

Semaphore Park is the second Goodstart Centre we have enrolled at and chose to move here because of the incredibly positive feedback from friends who were enrolled there. The centre has provided consistent, supportive and nurturing care for my children since my eldest first was enrolled in 2022. In my experience, the staff turn-over has been minimal which has allowed my two to develop strong, comforting connections with the beautiful, friendly, loving staff who make my boys feel that they are genuinely cared for each day they attend. I think the staff retention is a testament to the wonderful culture and positive environment at the centre, and the way they have provided regular communication about my children’s progress and engagement has allowed me to feel comfortable in leaving my precious little humans in their care. The centre itself is bright, open and allows the kids to connect with each other across rooms, and by only having 3 rooms the need for change and transition is minimal which has meant less stress on the kids. Highly Recommend!
