Hi, my name is Hayley and I am the centre manager at Oakbank. I have been at this centre since 2016, originally as an educator before transitioning to the role of manager. I believe that all children are individuals and need to be nurtured in a safe and caring environment to help them become our future citizens of the world. I am passionate about my staff, and firmly believe that a well rounded balanced team that utilises each educators strengths can only enhance the care we can provide to you and your child.

We have a great centre team who trust and respect each other and share responsibility for the care of the children in our centre, our director started at the centre in the nursery room as an educator and has grown with the centre ensuring that we create a team of amazing educators with different skills and strengths to support our families.

Mayfield Early Education Oakbank Centre Philosophy

At Genius Oakbank we acknowledge the Peramangk and Kaurna people (pending Native title dispute)as the traditional custodians of Adelaide Hills country, and value and respect their cultural and historical beliefs.

We recognise and respect that every child has the right to know and feel secure in their own culture, religion, language, and abilities.

We believe in a cohesive, inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing environment that provides opportunities to support children’s interests and needs in a play-based learning environment.

We are committed to ensuring that the child’s voice is heard and respected in our centre’s daily practice, and that the children receive responsible, compassionate care and have their opinions valued.

The Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards as well as Genius’s policies and procedures will form the basis of our practice; so that children can emerge as capable, curious learners and future independent citizens in society .

We aim to work collaboratively with our families and acknowledge and respect them as their child’s primary caregivers as we build strong, trusting relationships with them and their children. We work to make sure each child has an educator they can build a connection with, this educator will document the child’s learning as required .

We aim to provide all children with a sense of belonging as we continue to build strong connections within our centre and local community, now and in the future.

The staff at Mayfield Oakbank do an amazing job caring for and engaging my child in a safe and fun environment. My son loves being at daycare and loves his educators. He has been attending for almost two years and has learned so much, gained friends and is becoming so confident and independent. I can go to work knowing he is in great hands!

We understand that health and nutrition is an important corner stone of any child’s development. We take seriously our commitment to improving the health and nutrition of all children attending our centre, and make sure to adhere to national regulations.

We ensure the following:

• all members of staff ensure adequate health and hygiene practices, as well as safe practices for handling, preparing and storing food.
• that children always have access to safe drinking water and are offered food and beverages appropriate to each child’s needs on a regular basis throughout the day.
• the food or beverages provided are nutritious and adequate in quantity and chosen based on each child’s dietary requirements.
• a weekly menu is displayed and accessible to family members which accurately describes the food and beverages to be provided by the service each day.
