Kids on Colllins is the best. Jenn, the Centre Director runs the tight ship and safety first. The staff at KoC really cares about our daughter and us as a family since she went there at her 6 months old, especially we don't have any extended family support here. As the first time parents, they have been supporting us through the period. We went to another centre for a couple of days for a higher daily rate for a period of the time in Williamstown, they prove that Kids on Collins is the best as the team really care about children and parents. I am a high standard and can be demanding at times - but, this place ticks all the boxes for 1.5 years! Highly recommended.

Located conveniently in Melbourne’s CBD, Kids on Collins offers a newly refurbished environment that is warm, welcoming, and feels like an extension of your family home.

In 2025, we were proudly awarded the Most Outstanding Early Years Service in Central Melbourne at the local business awards!

As a not-for-profit service, Kids on Collins places a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of both children and families. Our long-standing educators are consistently rostered, allowing them to build deep, trusting relationships with the children and their families. These meaningful connections form the foundation of our strength- and interest-based educational program.

Our beautifully refurbished Centre features “Gardens in the Sky” — a unique rooftop outdoor space where children can run, ride, jump, climb, and play throughout the day.

Come visit us to see why Kids on Collins remains one of the first and most trusted early education environments in Melbourne’s CBD. Our strong reputation for outstanding care and education continues to shine above the rest.

What the parents say

What the parents say

My children have attended Kids on Collins for over three years now. Since day one, my children have only received the most exceptional care, attention, and education. We love all the great things my children learn and bring home. The app is also fantastic because I can see what my children are up to and what they know every day. I love their transparency and the trust we have for the centre. It's incredible, but I have never, not once, had any issue with any of the educators at the centre. On the contrary, every one of them has always greeted and treated all of us with the utmost respect. This is why I have always appreciated and always acknowledge the excellent work and care they carry out to ensure my children and all children at the centre experience just a pleasant adventure in one of the most critical stages in their lives. It is one of the best places you could send your children.

My children have been attending Kids on Collins for the past 3 years. The communication and responsiveness of all staff and management is exceptional. I am able to speak with the educators at pick up to get an update about their day. They are all very passionate about each child's development and needs. The centre runs a fantastic educational program and excursions throughout the year that keep them engaged.  Each day journals are posted which give a run down of the day's activities together with lots of photos. They have an inhouse chef who makes freshly cooked nutritious meals that my children love. I am very thankful to have found an amazing centre with equally amazing staff.

Our family has been with Kids on Collins for the last 6 years with our three children and love this centre. The staff are so caring for our children and are invested in their wellbeing and early education. Jenn the Centre Director has created this safe and fun environment for all the families and amazes me on her personal knowledge of all the children and parents names. As a parent of a child with anaphylaxis, one of the key attributes of this centre is its comprehensive allergy procedure which ensures that all children are kept safe and gives us the reassurance of leaving our child in their care. I would highly recommend this excellent centre to anyone looking for care.

Audrey

Our daughter Lexi has attended Kids on Collins for the last 2 years. Jennifer Farrell and her team are knowledgeable, caring and professional. I am impressed as I watch my daughter's progress with new learning over the time she has spent at the Centre. Our daughter even eats vegetables at the Centre that we have been unable to feed her at home! One of the best aspects of the Centre are the detailed daily updates and photos on their app. That provides me confidence that she is being well looked after. I am grateful to Jenn and the staff at Kids on Collins for the excellent care and support they have shown us over the past couple of years. I highly recommend the Centre and will be sending our next daughter, Indie to this Centre shortly!

Declaration of Intent

Little Flyers Learning Centres staff believe that each child develops their own unique knowledge, beliefs, culture, learning style and values. We acknowledge that families are the child’s first teacher. They are central to their child’s learning. Our educational programs ensure each child is respected as an individual within a group and is encouraged to reach their full potential.

We believe that children should develop connections and relationships with their communities and that everyone has the right to belong. Children, families and staff in our Centre will develop cultural competence and in the process, create a shared culture where everyone feels safe, included, respected and valued.

Our environments and learning experiences aspire to create positive and trustful relationships, courage, resilience, empowerment and wellbeing. Children are encouraged to be empathetic and caring. They will experience success, joy and celebration, by taking risks in their learning, accepting and embracing diversity, developing confidence in themselves and learning from their mistakes.

We know that children learn best when they are interested, curious and motivated. Educators will have high expectations of children and will work with them to co-construct knowledge through learning strategies such as play, inquiry, investigation and research. Educators will scaffold children’s learning, through a responsive curriculum and a commitment to assist children in their search for meaning.

We acknowledge the many ways that children express themselves and communicate. We afford children a hundred ways to express their ideas: imaginative, symbolic, cognitive and metaphorical. Educators listen, document and assess children’s theories and knowledge and share these through documentation to families and the community.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

Literacy

Literacy is offered to children in a non-structured manner and incorporated in their everyday learning. Our programs support literacy by offering a print rich environment, pre-reading games, dramatic play, reading books and storytelling, singing and conversations.

Numeracy

Numeracy is offered to children in context and becomes part of their everyday learning. Our programs offer children opportunities to count, classify, use numbers, measure time, match, sort and make patterns.

Technology

We recognise the importance of technology and its use in our ever-modern world. Technology is used in our rooms as a tool to enhance children’s learning. We will use technology in a way that builds and develops relationships between children, rather than it being a tool that encourages children to be alone. Educators will use a range of mediums such as iPads, music players, cameras, and interactive whiteboards (Kindergarten program).

Community Celebrations

Our inclusive environment means that we wish to celebrate special occasion days to honour and enhance connections with our broader community, recognising events and special occasions. We celebrate diverse cultural celebrations based on the contexts of the children and families at our Service. Please let our educators know what special events your family celebrates!

Specialist Programs

Specialist programs are important elements of our curriculum. They are reflective of the current interest within the program and are often arranged as a spontaneous exercise to encourage ideas and questions from children. Specialist programs may include experiences such as farmyard/animal visits, dental care, road safety, water safety, wellbeing programs, performances as well as music, sports and dance programs.

Project Work

Children have an innate sense of curiosity, our educators will use this curiosity to develop and scaffold children knowledge surrounding areas of interest within their room, or centre environments. These projects could be as simple as “getting to know you” or as diverse as “traveling the world”. The project process follows the children’s learning journey, incorporating many differing modes and mediums for learning, such as craft, research, experiments, pretend play, music, cooking, gardening, culture, celebrations and much more! This is displayed in a way that allows children and families to revisit their learning.

Health & nutrition

Health & nutrition

With an experienced on-site culinary team, the children receive five meals a day including breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as a hot dinner. The monthly rotating menu is inspired by international and native cuisine and endorsed by Nutrition Australia.

The menu provides the children with 50-75% of their daily nutritional needs. The food is Halal and can be tailored to cater to allergies and dietary requirements.

Programs

Programs

Relationships

Relationships are at the core of all that we do. Relationships with children, with their families, with our co-educators and with the community. Educators will respect their role in children’s lives and the huge responsibility and privilege it is to be a part of each child’s learning and development.

Environment as the “third” teacher

Educators will create warm and inviting environments that are engaging and rich with learning opportunities. The environment belongs to the children, therefor will be made up of areas that reflect children’s current interests, support developmental needs and provisions will be made for the participation of every child.

Curiosity & Enquiry

Our educators will use children’s innate sense of curiosity to scaffold their learning. Educators will provide children the tools, resources and opportunities to play, explore and discover the world around them. Projects will be used to follow the enquiry process. They will be displayed and kept for children, families and educators to revisit.

Family & Community

We respect that family is the child’s first teacher. Our educators will utilise family input into all aspects of our teaching. We encourage families to share with us their history, culture, celebrations and strengths, so that these can be incorporated into our learning program.

Agency, Autonomy and the Rights of the child

Educators will have high expectations of every child and children will be treated with respect. Children will be given the freedom and opportunity to be active participants in matters that affect their lives. Yarning circles, planning journals and reflections will be used to seek input from children surrounding their own learning and development.

Sustainability

Our educators are committed to teaching children sustainable practices in our daily routines and programs. We encourage practices that teach children the art of regenerating and caring for Country. We will use play to develop a strong connection to the natural environment.

Nutrition, Health and Wellbeing

Our daily menu in endorsed by Nutrition Australia and children are encouraged to try new foods of differing flavours and textures. Educators will take a holistic approach to teaching and learning to support the healthy development of a child’s identity and their sense of belonging and connectedness.

First Nations Perspectives

We acknowledge and pay homage to the traditional owners of the lands our Services are located on. Our educational programs include perspectives from our First Nations peoples including storytelling, dance, music, uses of symbols and respect for Country.

We've been with KoC for the last 10 years and they've been wonderful for our two boys in terms of development, care, friendships, support, etc - you name it. Will be a sad day when we are no longer walking through their doors/our boys are grown up. Rate them very highly.

KOC to my boys and us is more than a centre, the staff/educators and management team are also our friends, families and communities. The experiences we have are extraordinary and beyond our expectation. The genuine care, love, support and individual focused education process have been terrific for both of my boys. We love KOC ❤️ Special thanks to Jodi, Vanita, Savannah, Karen, Morag, Adrienne, and of course Russell, Rebecca and Jen - for those cuddles and fun time with Hendrik and the true care and support for Charlie! We really appreciate everything you do for our boys.
