My son spent 5 years at MELCC, it’s his second home, he loved going here and every educator was friendly and supportive, we didn’t need to worry about a thing. Now my son is 12, lots of sweet and fun memories here😁!

We started coming here a year ago, it was our first experience with childcare, and to be honest we couldn't have chosen a better place! Sending your first child to care can be so daunting. Everyone here was incredibly patient and helpful right from the start.

It’s such a small, intimate center, really feels like a second home. The educators and the whole team are just lovely—they are so warm, encouraging, and truly help the kids become themselves. They also do wonderful regular outings to local playgrounds, to the shops, to the library, and even bush kindy, which has benefited the kids so much.

It has been so beautiful to watch our child -who is a bit shy by nature- to completely come out of her shell. She has developed incredibly over the past year and now such a confident, capable child. And absolutely loves going there!

This place has honestly become like a family to us, and we will be forever grateful. I can't recommend them enough to any parent looking for a safe, happy space for their little one!

We were part of the MELCC community from 2021 until recently, and it was honestly the best start we could’ve given our kids. Our eldest started at 6 months old, and our twins joined at 9 months – and all three absolutely loved it. The educators are amazing – warm, experienced, and with long tenure. Our kids always felt safe and cared for, and we felt totally supported as parents too - we 100% trusted the teachers. One of the things we loved most was how the centre let kids be kids – playing outside, getting messy, exploring and learning in a natural, hands-on way. They also actively participated in the local community with trips to the library, toy library, local playgrounds and shops - they even caught trams teaching valuable life skills. It’s also one of the few not-for-profit centres in the area, and it really shows – everything is thoughtful and truly focused on the children, not just ticking boxes. From the baby room, to toddlers to kindy the teachers genuinely love their jobs and the children. Their 3YO and 4YO kinder programs are excellent, with smaller class sizes that ensure each child gets the time and attention they need to thrive. We’ve now moved interstate, and our little boy is homesick for daycare – he misses his teachers and friends so much. Malvern ELC isn’t just a daycare or kindy – it’s a community. The educators have been integral in helping me raise kind, curious, and considerate little humans. We’re so grateful to have been part of such a special place.

My daughter moved to MELCC after being at the big for profit centres. The love, routine, nurture and care each of the educators, admin and chef show her every minute is astounding. She has gone from being a shy child with other kids and adults to a new little person with confidence and empathy that shines through every moment of the day. The interactions we have had as a family is just amazing. It is like being at grandma's house - we know each day how loved she is.

About Malvern Early Learning & Child Care Centre

Malvern Early Learning and Childcare Centre (MELCC) provides children, families and the community with a welcoming, warm, nurturing and stimulating atmosphere. Children feel safe and supported in an open and aesthetically pleasing environment. They are free to be themselves and develop to their full potential.

Educators recognise the importance of a child’s growth and development in their early years. Their play-based approach puts children’s interests at the forefront. They have access to open-ended, meaningful, interesting, natural and challenging resources that allow them to have long periods of genuine, uninterrupted play. Children develop skills, knowledge, feelings and dispositions through play that build a solid foundation for lifelong learning.

Educators provide a holistic curriculum that is intentional, inclusive, responsive, purposeful and thoughtful. It helps children to develop a disposition for learning and to respect resources and each other. They incorporate environmental messages and sustainability in daily practices to provide children with the foundation to care for their world. Educators maintain professional practice by ensuring our “image of the child” is one of a capable, curious, independent, knowledgeable, resourceful and unique individual.

They are active advocates for the rights of the child at MELCC and the wider community and prioritise each child’s best interests, acknowledging that all children have a voice in their decisions.

All children are individuals. They have their own way of learning and exploring their world. Educators value this individuality and shape learning to allow each child’s personality to show. Principles of equity, diversity and social justice are respected and reflected in their practice. They celebrate and recognise differences in our children, families and community, enabling all children to develop as well-rounded individuals.

They value partnerships with families and work together to maximise a child’s potential. They treasure and build reciprocal, trusting relationships between children and their families and understand the significance of their culture, beliefs and values.

Educators are recognised and valued for their individual strengths and abilities. They critically reflect, research and improve on their knowledge, ethical responsibilities and theory of practice through ongoing professional practice and evaluation. By doing so, they demonstrate best practice and create a conducive and dynamic environment for all children.

Educators, Committee and Families contributed to the development and review of the centre philosophy, reflecting our belief in open communication and inclusiveness.
