The Centre's programs provide a wide range of experiences to encourage the children's curiosity and learning. Programs are tailored to specific age groups and designed to foster holistic cognitive, social, physical, motor and emotional skills.

Learning Through Play

Utilising current early childhood research that recognises that children learn through play, educators at Keppel Street Kindy deliver developmentally appropriate and interest based activities that are fun and engaging. 

The holistic program gives children the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that extend all areas of their development, while children are unaware that they are learning as they play. 

Learning Through Play program activities include art, craft, block play, construction, cognitive games, singing, dance, and outdoor activities including sand and water play. 

School readiness program

As part of the School Readiness Program, children enjoy enriching activities that help them build the skills needed for a comfortable transition to kindergarten.

The program covers all key learning areas of the curriculum, including English (language), mathematics, science, creative arts, Society and Its Environment plus health and personal development. ​

The centre is proud to have a committed team who strive to deliver the highest standards of child care and early learning. 

Every member of the team is qualified and experienced, and team members are encouraged to undertake regular training to stay abreast of current research in early child education.

The team works collaboratively to provide a friendly, calm and comfortable environment, where every child can feel safe, secure and happy.

The centre values family involvement to ensure that children receive the very best care. It encourages families to visit prior to enrolment so the child and family can familiarise themselves with the environment, meet educators and ask questions.

Once enrolled, educators complete regular observations on each child to share with parents and carers. Parents are able to discuss their child's development with their teacher at any time, to help ensure programs and learning outcomes meet the needs of individual children. 

The centre keeps families informed of updates to centre information, and invites families to visit for special events and celebrations.

The Keppel Street Kindy curriculum follows the Early Years Learning Framework for holistic, play-based learning.

All activities are carefully selected to help develop each child's creative, language and personal, cognitive (thinking & reasoning), fine and gross motor coordination, as well as social and emotional development.  

The curriculum includes flexibility to meet the diverse needs, interests and abilities of children, and to ensure every child loves their time at Keppel Street Kindy!
