My granddaughter has been attending Grasshoppers since she was just 11 months old and over the years the wonderful educators have become so much more than educators to us they have truly become part of our family. The kindness, love, care and dedication shown by the entire team have meant the world to us. The current management have always been so welcoming, supportive and informative and we have always felt included, valued and very much a part of the Grasshoppers community.<br>As our beautiful granddaughter prepares to finish kindergarten, we are feeling so emotional and incredibly grateful for the wonderful people who have been part of her journey. Knowing she has been surrounded by such caring and nurturing educators has been such a gift to our family.<br>A very special thank you to Lana, Gemma, Patti and the entire kindergarten team for everything you have done This year. We cannot recommend Grasshoppers highly enough. Thank you for being such a special part of our granddaughter’s life.

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years
Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.
Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.
Morning
Kate is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Kate is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Kate has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Kate a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Kate and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Kate’s favourite book.
Morning
Daniel is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Daniel is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Daniel identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Daniel is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Daniel is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Daniel picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Daniel and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Daniel enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Daniel is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Daniel’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Holly is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Holly and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Holly is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Holly sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Holly takes part in the centre’s sports program. Holly loves sports. Sports helps Holly improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Holly is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Holly and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.
Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.
Hi, my name is Tam, and I am the Centre Manager here at Grasshoppers Early Learning Centre. I’m passionate about helping children discover their strengths, build resilience, and feel empowered to explore the world with creativity and kindness.
I began my journey in early learning in 1995, and I joined Grasshoppers in 2023. Guiding children as they learn and grow has inspired me to keep learning and growing in my own career. I’ve learned over the years that every child is capable, curious, and uniquely themselves. They learn best when they feel supported through strong relationships and hands-on experiences, and this understanding has shaped my teaching style to be child-centred, responsive, and inclusive.
My approach is to meet every child where they are and to nurture a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom. I’m passionate about helping children discover their strengths, build resilience, and feel empowered to explore the world with creativity and kindness.
When I talk to families about the benefits of early childhood education, I like to highlight how much children gain from being part of a group learning environment. They learn to communicate, share, take turns, solve problems, and build friendships — all of which lay a strong foundation for school and life.
At Grasshoppers, we have a wonderful team of passionate and dedicated educators who create an inclusive and nurturing environment for every child. We have an open-door policy and encourage families to be part of our special events and to share their cultures and interests with us. Building warm, respectful, and ongoing communication helps us form strong relationships with our families and ensures we can support them in meaningful ways.

I have had such a wonderful experience with Grasshoppers from the first day we visited to my child starting their first day. The educators are incredibly caring, supportive, and genuinely invested in each child's wellbeing and development.<br>One of the biggest changes I've seen is in my child's confidence. They started out quite shy and reluctant to engage in activities l, but now he is much happier going each day to see his friends and educators. It has been so rewarding to watch him grow in confidence, independence, and social skills.<br>I am so grateful for the kindness, dedication, and care shown by the entire team. Thank you for creating such a warm, supportive and nurturing environment for my son.

I have currently have my Kindergarten 4.5 old in the program preparing her for Prep in 2027, though she has been at the centre since I returned to work when she was 10.5 months old. My 8yr old boy also went through the centre from 11 months all the way through the Kindergarten.<br>The team, from the lovely cook, Miss Noo, who prepares yummy fresh meals and snacks for our girl daily, also providing for the serious allergies at the centre, from the Early Years Educators who are dedicated in developing structured learning through play, exploration and free time, where children can explore in their natural environment while provide safety with genuine care and attention. All the way to the Executive team and of 3, Director Gemma, 2IC Lana and 3IC Shannon who between them have decades of experience on the floor providing eduction and still jump in and work with the children and families when needed on days if staffing is needed during flu seasons etc. I cannot recommend this centre highly enough. They have gone above and beyond for me and my children on a daily basis, and still do, they communicate exceptionally well, if there is ever an issue, it is addressed head on, though they are are rare, and usually involve a lost sock, or missing shoe, that Ms 4 took off in the sandpit!<br>Grasshoppers and the staff have helped me raise my babies into confident, social and emotional intelligent young little people that love being at the centre! Thank you all for your continued support over the past years, especially this year, as you know it's been a tough one. We adore you all, and will you when our little lady heads off to big school next year! Though she is ready, and that is in big part, infact mostly in credit to you!!!

All the educators are wonderful and caring, I have had all 3 of my children go to this service with 2 currently attending still now. My eldest started prep this year he is Autistic and non-verbal, they were so understanding and accommodating to his needs up until he left for school! Always ensuring he was included in all daily activities with his peers and creating safe/calming zones for when he needed to regulate. Can not recommend them enough 🤗
