Hi, I’m Gin, and I am grateful to be the Centre Manager of our Thomastown Centre. Working with children has always been my dream, and over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of growing from a student to an assistant educator, lead educator, and assistant centre manager. I also have over ten years of management experience and have recently completed my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
I truly believe children are our future as they teach us every day, and through our guidance and support, they inspire us to see the world through new perspectives. Therefore, I aim to provide every child and family with a home away from home, one that is warm, safe, caring, and loving, where children can thrive, grow, and flourish, and where their voices are heard, valued, respected, and recognised. To achieve this, I am equally committed to nurturing our educators and teachers, ensuring they feel supported and appreciated.

With a holistic focus, the program at Eden Academy ensures the children grow in all areas of their development. This includes social, emotional, physical and cognitive skill development. 

Nature is an important part of the program, teaching the children to respect and care for the environment. The children learn how vegetables grow and enjoy nature play activities. They understand the calm of spending time outdoors and enjoy all of nature’s creations.

Health and wellbeing is another focus of the program. The children learn about healthy eating and nutrition through the meals prepared by the centre chef. The centre also worked with allied health professionals, including speech pathologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to ensure the children have every opportunity to thrive.

The relationships between educators and families at Eden Academy are professional and respectful, based on open communication. The centre fosters a strong sense of community and values the role families play in this.

Through play-based learning and fun activities, the educators at Eden Academy teach a holistic and age-appropriate curriculum. Aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, the curriculum goes above and beyond to nurture each child and their unique talents, needs and interests.

The curriculum is delivered across four different learning environments:

• Nursery (0 – 15 Months): the educators foster the children’s imagination, providing them with sensory experiences and opportunities for mindfulness.
• Toddler (15 Months – 2 Years): the children develop their social and emotional skills, including sharing and independence. 
• Pre-Kindy (2 – 3 Years): the educators balance fun and play with a steady introduction to structured learning. The children develop early friendships and build on the foundations of their physical and motor skills.
• Kindergarten (3 – 5 Years): the children start to prepare for the transition to school through a more formal learning environment. Rest, play and fun are still important elements in the day, with imaginative and sensory activities that help to build critical thinking, confidence and independence.
