My Philosophy

We are a true "child led" play-based family day care; champion all weather outdoor, mess, fun play; advocate respectful relationships; advocate attachment philosophies and draw heavily on the works of Janet Lansbury, Steiner, Louise Porter, Marc Armitage and Robin Grille.

At Hoot FDC your child will have access to a variety of play areas geared towards independent and group play, an edible vegetable garden, sand pit, mud kitchen and cubby house. In a warm, loving and nurturing environment, your child will be exposed to learning through play based activities and familiar, family settings according to the Early Years Learning Framework.

EXCURSIONS:

At Hoot we engage in regular and non-regular excursions.

Regular and non-regular excursions provide an opportunity for children to discover and observe the world and engage in their community. Real life situation can extend the learning opportunities of young children and help instil a sense of responsibility and independence.

Our regular excursions are visits to local library, parks and community gardens. During these excursions the children are exposed to a variety of children, play resources, the opportunity to engage in the greater community and all the learning and development that comes from those experience.

Our non-regular excursions are seasonal outings like strawberry picking and exhibitions to the Museum.

My boys attend St Martin's primary school. Peter will drop him off in the morning and I MAY take all the children to pick them up occasionally.

Each excursion has an associated Benefits and Risk Assessment that you can read and sign before the outing. We travel using car, bus or train depending on the location.
