About Sakura Early Learning Centre, Prahran

Sakura is a warm, purpose-designed long day care and kindergarten centre at 698-700 Malvern Road, Prahran, for children from six months to five years. We're open 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

A place for new beginnings

Sakura is the Japanese word for the cherry blossom, a flower that celebrates new beginnings. Our educators build warm, trusting relationships with every child and family, and plan play-based learning around children's interests, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0) and Victoria's Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).

Three rooms, named for flowers

Yuri (6 months to 2 years) and Peony (2 to 3 years) each have one educator for every four children, and Peony has an extra educator in the room. Hana (3 to 5 years) is our kindergarten room, led by an Early Childhood Teacher. Sakura has applied to offer funded kindergarten with Free Kinder from 2027.

One simple daily fee

Our fee is $200 a day before the Child Care Subsidy, with no bond and no hidden extras. It includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack cooked fresh on site, cow's milk and soy milk, nappies, wipes, SPF50+ sunscreen, bed linen and your child's learning portfolio on the OWNA app.

A natural playground

Our garden has a winding bike track, a big sandpit, a timber fort with a slide, shade sails and established trees, with plenty of room to run, dig, build and imagine.
