About Goodstart Early Learning Prairiewood

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Prairiewood is conveniently situated in the heart of Prairiewood, close to several local schools. We proudly serve a diverse community, offering care and education for children from 15 months up until they are ready for school. Our dedicated and experienced educators come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and many speak a second language.

Our curriculum is play-based and aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework. Each room, from Nursery to Kindergarten/Preschool, is designed to foster children’s curiosity, creativity, and imagination. Programs are tailored to individual interests, needs, and strengths, preparing children for school and life.

Family involvement is essential, and we promote a respectful partnership between parents and educators. Many of our staff have been with us for over 10 years, holding qualifications in early childhood education and First Aid.

We also support families by collaborating with services like the Learning Support Program and KU Children’s Services. Our multicultural team speaks languages such as Assyrian, Persian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Fijian, reflecting our centre's cultural diversity.

Through Storypark, family nights, and newsletters, we maintain open communication with parents to ensure tailored care. Our on-site cook provides nutritious meals, accommodating all dietary needs.

Community engagement and creative activities are key elements of our program, enriching children's learning and fostering creativity.

Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

We are very happy with our experience at Goodstart Early Learning Prairiewood. As parents, it means a lot to see our daughter excited to go to childcare every day. She really enjoys her time there and often comes home happy, telling us about the activities she did with her friends and educators. The educators are caring, patient, and supportive, and they create a safe and welcoming environment for the children. We appreciate how they encourage learning through play and help the children develop socially and emotionally. It gives us peace of mind knowing our daughter is well looked after while also learning and having fun. Thank you to the team at Goodstart Prairiewood for the wonderful work you do!

My child attends Goodstart Early Learning, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The educators are genuinely caring and truly go above and beyond for the little ones. You can really feel how much they love what they do. The environment is safe, warm, and supportive — exactly what every parent hopes for in a childcare centre. My child always comes home happy, learning new things, and excited to go back the next day.
