Normanhurst Child Care Centre is a licensed multicultural Centre catering for up to 48 children aged 0-6 years. We provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment where children can become active learners, exploring and learning through a wide variety of experiences and activities each day.
We provide a varied program for all children based on the children’s interests, observations and family input. The Centre’s program incorporates the Emergent Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework. At our Centre we encourage family input into the program and believe in creating a strong link between the home and the Centre. All staff attend regular training and seminars to ensure they are up-to- date with current early childhood practices and information. The Centre has been assessed under the current National Quality Standards.
We have 3 classrooms in the Centre - Possum Room (0-2 years), Koala Room (2-3 years) and the Emu Room (3-6 years) and each class is run by experienced and qualified Early Childhood Educators.

At Normanhurst Child Care Centre, educators provide a varied program based on the children’s interests, observations and family input.
6 weeks - 2 years
Up to 12 children are cared for in the nursery by 3 main educators. The indoor learning environment for this age group is a stimulating environment with room for children to explore at their own pace. Educators offer flexible routines that allow for consistency with family routines, large blocks of time for play and learning, and children’s choice and direction on experiences throughout the day.
2 years - 3 years
Up to 15 toddlers are cared for in this room by 3 main educators. Spaces within the room reflect children’s interests and are responsive to their abilities, catering for different learning capacities. Children’s developing social needs are supported through music and movement experiences. Children learn the skills needed to care, share, collaborate and use their emotions in a positive way.
3 years - 5 years
This classroom caters for up to 20 children with 2 main educators. The learning environment is bright and welcoming, arranged to invite and encourage varied forms of play and learning throughout the day. Educators encourage learning through immersion with innovative and interesting forms of literacy and numeracy experiences embedded within the curriculum to develop the children’s skills at a level that is developmentally appropriate for them. The program is designed to ensure that children are interested in learning by planning learning around their interests so they are engaged to explore, investigate and learn. These experiences give ownership to children and encourage their problem solving and decision-making skills.
My name is Jacque and I started working at the Centre in 2006. My qualifications are Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education). I am the full-time Director of the Centre.

Morning
Alexandra is ten months old and loves going on excursions in the pram with her nursery friends. Today they’re heading to the local park to see what birds they can spot in the trees.
Lunch
Alexandra is playing with some soft blocks on the mat before she heads off for a nap in the sleeping area. Her educator reads her some books before preparing her for a rest.
Afternoon
Alexandra loves music, and today the educators have set out lots of small musical instruments for the children to explore.
Morning
Alex is three years old and likes to start his day playing outside with his friends. They balance on the beam and pretend that they are pirates walking the plank.
Lunchtime
Alex is helping one of the educators to pull some weeds out of the herb garden. He has a taste of some cherry tomatoes and makes sure they have enough water.
Afternoon
Alex and his friends are excited as they have a special guest today from the library who is coming in for storytime.
Morning
Sophie is four and a half years old and loves to play outside. She and her friends are playing in the cubby house, pretending that it is a shop.
Lunchtime
Sophie is joining in with some fun soccer games today. The children take turns at the goal, and then Sophie tries being the goalie.
Afternoon
The educators have set out some instruments for the children to explore. Sophie chooses a tambourine and taps along with the beat from the music.

Normanhurst Child Care Centre has been an incredible place for our child’s early learning journey. The educators are caring, attentive, and truly invested in each child’s development. The centre is always clean, well-organized, and full of engaging activities that keep the kids happy and learning every day.
