I must say, we feel incredibly fortunate to have chosen Greenwood Gladesville for our one-year-old son’s childcare. Like many parents, I was very nervous about sending him to childcare at just 8 months old — but from the very beginning, the team made us feel completely at ease. Ms. Somayeh and Jasmin care for our son with such love and warmth every single day. It's clear they genuinely adore the children and treat each one as if they were their own. What truly sets Greenwood apart is the personal touch. Every staff member — including Centre Manager Gordana, Assistant Centre Manager Rachel, and even Chef Ms. Eun — takes the time to get to know each child and their individual needs. They go above and beyond to create a welcoming, nurturing environment where both children and parents feel part of a true community. They are all incredibly caring, attentive, and passionate about what they do. They listen to any concerns I have and are always proactive in their communication, which gives me so much confidence as a parent. We’ve seen such amazing growth in our son’s confidence and development since starting, and the daily updates and photos are such a wonderful way to stay connected to his day. We are so grateful to have found this gem of a centre — I truly couldn’t recommend Greenwood Gladesville more highly!

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi, I'm Gordana, the Centre Manager at Greenwood Gladesville. My career in early learning started in 2014. I joined Greenwood Gladesville in 2023. I hold Master of Primary School Teaching and I worked as a Primary School Teacher for ten years before moving to Australia. In Australia, I hold Teacher’s Accreditation and Department of Education Approval to teach. I have worked in various roles, including Early Childhood Teacher, Room Leader and Educational Leader. I have been working as a Centre Manager since 2019.

When I was 5 years old, I knew that one day I will be a teacher. I have always been passionate about teaching and supporting children in their growth and development. I believe that the best teacher is someone who listens to children’s needs and applies their knowledge to scaffold children’s interests.

I am very passionate about Transition to school program, as it is a huge milestone in children’s lives. I focus on building their confidence, self-esteem, public speaking and social skills. I love to teach them how to be persistent and extend their resilience. Seeing children grow and flourish under the guidance of my care is such a rewarding experience.

Our Gladesville centre offers numerous benefits compared to learning at home. Firstly, the centre provides learning environments designed by experts in child development, offering diverse activities that stimulate cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Additionally, interaction with peers foster crucial social skills and enhances language development through communication. Furthermore, trained educators employ evidence-based teaching methodologies to support children's individual needs and ensure holistic development.

We are fortunate to have an amazing, long-standing team who love working together. Our team is a synergy of talents, passion, and collaboration that achieves outstanding results. Each member brings unique strengths, fostering creativity, innovation and problem-solving. They are loving and caring and so proud of their work with children. Seeing children happy and engaged brings joy to them. Mutual support and commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect of their work.

I believe that open communication and a welcoming environment open all the doors. That means involving families in their child's learning journey, respecting diversity, and offering support whenever it’s needed. I am responsive to feedback and invite families to collaborate in decision-making. I prioritise building a sense of community, ensuring families feel valued and supported in their child's development.

Absolutely love this care centre. The team is always friendly and welcoming. The centre is upgrading its facilities but with proper procedures to keep the children safe. They genuinely care about the children especially 0-2 years. My kid enjoys the time in the centre.

We felt so welcome and comfortable from the very first day we had the tour. All the educators are incredibly kind, caring and loving. The attention to detail in everything they do is just wonderful. Our daughter (2) doesn’t speak English yet, and the team even offered to learn some Turkish words to help comfort her, which truly touched us. During her settling-in period, she was given plenty (I mean it) of stickers simply because they helped calm her down. Nothing the team has done so far (and continues to do) feels taken for granted to us, it all shows genuine care and dedication. There are countless little details I could mention that have moved us and made this centre the perfect place for our family. But instead of reading them all here, I’d simply say: call Greenwood Gladesville, book a tour, and see for yourself what an amazing team they have. Thank you Greenwood Gladesville for giving my mama heart peace of mind and for making it so easy to leave my child with you every morning without a second thought.
