We looked at several centres before selecting Majella for our two children and after 7.5 months we are still happy with our choice. If I could give stars just for the staff alone I would give 5/5. They’re so warm, caring, bubbly, patient, and nurturing. The facility is always clean and tidy. The outdoor area is fantastic, with a large playground, sandpits and bike track, set amongst native bush. Inside, the rooms are large, inviting and well temperature controlled. They do bush kindy, water play, painting, crafts, ball play, dancing, reading etc. They have a worm farm and vegetable/ herb gardens. We receive daily updates and realtime routine/ health logs. The only reason I can’t give five stars is because our previous centre (in New Zealand) was exceptional and better aligned with our values around environmental sustainability, the huge effort they put into play invitations, and the quality of their food (100% homemade, sugar free etc.). But I haven’t found a centre like it in Brisbane. That’s not to say Majella doesn’t do these things or doesn’t do them well, but given where we’ve come from, we know they can do much more. All the centres we visited Brisbane can do more in these areas. Regardless, we highly rate Majella. Our kids have been very happy here. Highly recommend :)

I was initially hesitant to write this review regarding the centre and our children’s experience. However, after careful consideration, I felt it was necessary to share our experience in order to help prevent similar situations from affecting other children and families. Unfortunately, our experience at this centre was extremely disappointing and had a negative impact on our children both physically and psychologically. We observed ongoing concerns including bullying, a lack of effective management, and what appeared to be bias from certain educators. In particular, the conduct of one educator was frequently loud and, at times, unprofessional, contributing to an environment in which our children did not feel safe, supported, or respected. We believe that childcare and educational centres have a responsibility to provide a safe, inclusive, and well-managed environment for all children. Regrettably, this centre did not meet those expectations in our case. My recommendation to other parents: Regularly check your child’s body, particularly for younger children, and remain attentive to any marks or signs of injury. Do not dismiss incidents as minor without receiving a clear and satisfactory explanation, and ensure appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence. Avoid signing first aid or medical reports unless you fully understand the incident and are informed of the specific steps that will be taken to address and prevent similar situations. While maintaining respectful communication, it is important to advocate firmly for your child’s safety and wellbeing, as these should always be the highest priority. Finally, I would caution parents not to rely solely on the complaints process. We lodged a formal complaint and pursued it thoroughly, including providing recommendations. Unfortunately, the response we received consisted only of generic emails, which did not resolve the issues. As a result, our children continued to suffer up till now.

Hello Youssef, Thank you for sharing your experience so openly. We are deeply concerned by what you have described, particularly your concerns about your children’s physical and emotional wellbeing, feelings of safety, and experiences of inclusion while attending the service. Hearing reports of bullying, perceived bias, unprofessional educator conduct, and injuries that were distressing or insufficiently explained is not something we take lightly. Every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported, and we are truly sorry to hear that this was not your family’s experience. We are also concerned to learn of your disappointment with the complaints process and the impact this situation has continued to have on your children. Families place great trust in our early learning services, and it is not a responsibility we take lightly. Catholic Early EdCare is committed to providing safe, inclusive, and well-managed environments grounded in dignity, care, and respect for every child. When serious concerns such as those you have raised are brought to us, they require careful attention and appropriate follow-up. If you are willing, we would very much welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly, listen more fully to your concerns, and review these matters with the care they deserve. Please contact us at childcare@catholicearlyedcare.qld.edu.au so we can follow up appropriately. Kind regards, Catholic Early EdCare

This centre can’t seem to keep a director for more than 6-12months. The constant changing of directors has meant the centre has taken a long time to see any change. I was so disappointed when they lost a great director Emma earlier this year, who was one of the only I have experienced in the past 6 years of having my children attending this centre who actually really cared about the children, staff and community. It seems as though anyone who tries to make any positive changes to the centre ends up leaving. We love the long standing educators at the centre as they truly are a shining light.
