My son attended Saideh's FDC from age 1y11m to 3y6m when he left prior to starting kindy. My son really enjoyed going to Saideh's house while my husband and I worked. She was always really loving and attentive to his emotional needs. He was provided with many opportunities for play outside in a small sandpit and well cared for backyard with ample shade, arts and crafts, and toys and educational resources to learn and play with. Saideh took the time to ease my son into her care. I had six orientations with him for 1 hour and then left him for 2 hours and slowly increased the time I spent away, and he honestly never cried, the transition went so smoothly. Saideh was always teaching him how to play with others kindly and respectfully. I received photos and updates intermittently however if I ever asked how he was going, Saideh was quick to respond as she has her apple watch on her. My son was out of nappies at home since 15mo, however Saideh insisted he wear a nappy until he was about 2y6m because she wanted to ensure cleanliness at her home, and my son still needed prompting to go to the potty prior to that time. I understood that they watched TV shows in the afternoon after nap time for a period, however my son only attended two days so given this, I was not concerned. It was always age appropriate content. Saideh was also really strict about children attending if unwell which I really appreciated because it meant that Theo wasn't getting sick at daycare and bringing it home, and vice versa. Saideh really cares about her children and we always felt like family. I will be sending my other little one there when he is older!! I highly recommend Saideh's family daycare.

Our Philosophy at Dianella Family Day Care is to provide equal opportunities and an inclusive approach service.

My role as an educator is to support children's developmental growth and their emotional needs by providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can reach their highest potential and support each child's sense of Belonging, Being and Becoming which has been inspired and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework.

At Dianella Family Day Care we,

  • Encourage the children to express themselves and their opinions.
  • Allow the children to undertake experiences that develop self-reliance and self-esteem.
  • Maintain at all times the dignity and rights of each child.
  • Give each child positive guidance and encouragement toward acceptable behaviour.
  • Consider children's families cultural values and practice.
  • Recognise the value and the important connections between children, their families and strive to create strong links between the day care environment and their home.
  • Create respectful partnerships with parents and families by developing open communication and meaningful collaboration.
  • Ensure children have opportunities to interact and develop respectful and positive relationships with each other and with the educator.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate and strength based curriculum which meets the developmental needs of each child, their strength and interests.
  • Provide enrich play based experiences which supports children's exploration, connecting to nature and creativity, which reflects each child's individual interests and strengths.

To achieve this we will ensure that elements of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Framework for School Age Children (FSAC) are implemented including the five principles:

1. Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships – we will develop and maintain respectful, supportive and collaborative relationships with children, their families, educators, staff and the wider community connected to our FDC Service.

2. Partnerships – we value strong partnerships with families and acknowledge the critical importance of children, parents and educators as partners in children's learning. In addition, we will foster community partnerships at all opportunities.

3. High expectations and equity – we are committed to the highest standards of professional practice in our FDC Service and seek to deliver sound practices to support all children and their families within the limits of our FDC role.

4. Respect for diversity – we believe that all staff, educators, children and their families should be valued and respected regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability.

5. Ongoing learning and reflective practice – we will reflect upon daily practices to promote quality improvement and ensure that our practices are fair, non-discriminatory and are in the best interests of children and families.

Further, we will implement the six Guiding Principles that apply across all seven Quality Areas of the National Quality Standard (NQS):

1. The rights of the child are paramount – we will act in the best interests of all children.

2. Children are successful, competent and capable learners – we will engage children in curriculums/program, that are meaningful and provide quality learning experiences, and provide environments that excite, extend and enrich children's learning. This process will be supported and guided by the Educational Leaders.

3. Equity, inclusion and diversity – we will embrace the social justice principles of fairness, equality, accessibility and advocacy to enrich the development and learning of all children and support their families.

4. Valuing Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures – we will seek to provide a culturally safe and inclusive environment for children and families.

5. The role of parents is respected and supported – we will encourage open and honest two-way communication in order to acknowledge, value and build upon the parent's strengths and support them to nurture their children's wellbeing and development.

6. High expectations for children, educators and service providers – we will aim to keep the vision of quality improvement for all children in education and care at the heart of all decision making.
