An amazing child care facility. My daughter has blossomed there. Our experience in the baby room (0-2) was excellent. The carers are very experienced and there seems to be low staff turnover. Great food too- our generally picky eater will have 2 servings of lunch there! So happy we prioritized experience and staff warmth over shiny new buildings!

As a single parent, with no family in Australia, it is incredibly important that I rate this place 5stars publicly. They took incredible care of my daughter, and of me. My daughter has grown confident and warm through the remarkable job of the teachers who were instrumental in raising her with me. No daily photo updates, if that’s what you are looking for. Personally I wasn’t. I wanted teachers who were focused on the environment, and my child. I always felt incredibly lucky to have had Hazel land a spot here.

We are proud of our longstanding reputation of providing rich education and care to the children of both Alfred Hospital employees and the general community, in a family-focussed and supportive way.
Respectful relationships and partnerships underpin our practice. Our highly experienced and dedicated teachers and educators build strong, trusting relationships with each child, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence.
We offer a welcoming, home-like environment that strives to make each child feel secure and supported.
The centre operates on the site of The Alfred Hospital and provides a high quality service to meet the needs of The Alfred Hospital staff. Where vacancies exist, places are also available to the community.
The centre has been designed so there is a maximum of 10 children in each group/room with 2 rooms for the youngest children (0-2 year olds) which observe a 1:4 staff to child ratio. A state government funded preschool program is provided.
When children play and explore, their imagination and curiosity are sparked – they enjoy learning and are inspired to continue learning more.
We have a strong focus on building collaborative partnerships with families and the community. This supports children to develop trust and confidence within the learning environment, while enhancing their awareness of different cultures.
Alfred Child Care Centre has been independently assessed by the Victorian Department of Education and are proud to be rated as Meeting the National Quality Standard.
