Our experience with this educator was extremely disappointing and I would not recommend this family day care.

Our children attended for almost 4 months. During this time we raised a very reasonable concern about them repeatedly coming home with full water bottles and asked whether they were being offered enough drinking opportunities throughout the day. Instead of working with us, communicating properly, or trying to resolve the issue she used the water bottle situation as an excuse to cease both of our children’s enrolments the very next day.

The cessation letter felt unfair, misleading, and completely unnecessary. It made out as though there was a serious issue around electrolytes/substances in the children’s water bottles even though we had already disclosed the electrolytes previously and have message/photo evidence showing she knew about it. This was not a new issue. It was used as a reason to get rid of our children after we questioned whether they were actually being offered water. Our children came home on 2 occasions saying they were not given their water bottles at times because “ they were too messy”.

The educator did mention she would top up the water bottles but in a bottle where electrolytes have been added, you can see the water mark on the bottle and it had not moved.

It also felt very clear that our children were less convenient for her because we were not using care five days a week. She repeatedly pressured us to increase the children to five days and would tell us they would “settle better” if they attended more. Family day care educators have limited daily spaces, especially for children under school age, so it felt like she wanted our spots filled by children attending five days a week rather than dealing with genuine parent concerns.

There were also ongoing issues with the quality of care. The children did not seem to be offered much meaningful play or engagement. In almost 4 months, they never painted did any arts/crafts once. Messy or creative activities seemed avoided because it was her home and outdoor play also appeared very limited. Photos would be sent of them outside, but our children would tell us they were brought back inside straight away after taking photos.

The educator also did not come across as warm or engaging with the children. She did not greet them in a friendly comforting way at the door, and when our children were upset about attending, there was no real plan or effort to support them emotionally. Her response was simply that they needed to attend more days.

We also had concerns around child safety and communication. Photos of the children were being shared through WhatsApp, and when we asked about this the question was ignored and the photos continued. I have concerns about whether this followed the correct policies around children’s images, parent authorisation, digital safety, storage, and device use.

At enrolment we were specifically told there would be no males in the home during childcare hours and that her husband would always be at work during the hours our children would be attending However, both of our children told us on multiple occasions that they saw a man in the home or near the care area, and that he would look in or say hello to them by name. This was concerning because it was different to what we were told when enrolling.

Overall, this educator did not appear willing to work through normal parent concerns. Asking whether our children were being offered water should never have resulted in both children being removed from care the next day. The whole experience felt like she was not interested in supporting our children or resolving issues and instead used the water bottle/electrolyte situation as a convenient excuse to end.

To this day, the educator has not reached out to us once. It is clear she does not truly care for the wellbeing of the children and we have raised these concerns with the department of education

UPDATE - Photos have now been attached due to Aksh constantly abusing and harassing us for " Lying ". There Is far worse evidence
