Alecia’s Family Day Care: Educational Philosophy Statement

Alecia’s Family Day Care has organically evolved over the last 22 years. During the process of professional development and growth, it has ignited an intrinsic passion for the process of knowledge acquisition or lifelong learning. Due to the rapid rate of development in the early years, it is essential, that every child have quality early childhood experiences and care. At Alecia’s Family Day Care learning is maximise through sensory play, high expectations, reciprocal relationships with people and communities, in a safe environment of self-discovery.

Alecia’s Family Day Care advocates that, an individual child’s learning journey is facilitate through the Montessori, Steiner and Reggio Emilia approaches to education and care. It is within an amalgamated approach to learning, that a child’s own innate capacity for holistic development and learning becomes the foundation of a child’s ability to be a confident, capable and sensory learner.

A learning journey that is co-constructucted through the environment, the child’s social interactions and community or curriculum expectations are interwoven into the child’s individual learning processes. Creating an inclusive environment which becomes, a fun, an enjoyable and a child focused program. It is an environment, which welcomes new discoveries, new challenges and new learning. Most often, Alecia takes the role of an “unobtrusive director,” when engaged with a child. This leads to an environment, which values the significance of co-constructed learning where the child is able freely express themselves, to ask questions and to seek answers for themselves.
