About Nido Early School Taperoo

  • Children participate in programs such as Auslan for language development, music and movement for physical and emotional growth, and sustainability projects through our community garden.
  • Partnerships with allied health professionals and initiatives like Words Grow Minds support communication and family engagement.
  • Our collaboration with the Department for Human Services helps deliver programs that strengthen family connections and community support.

At Nido Taperoo Early School, we provide exceptional education and care for children from six weeks to school age. Our focus is on creating a collaborative and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we encourage curiosity and creativity through meaningful experiences.

Safety is always our priority. We follow national child-safe standards, maintain clear supervision, and provide ongoing training for our educators. Families can trust that every child is cared for in a secure and supportive environment.

Our learning programs are child-led and co-designed with families to reflect each child’s interests and strengths. Activities such as Auslan language development, music and movement, sustainability projects, and gardening make learning engaging and relevant.

Our environments are thoughtfully designed to spark imagination and exploration. Children enjoy art in our ateliers, shared meals in piazzas, and outdoor adventures in community gardens, building a strong connection to nature.

Community is at the heart of Nido Taperoo. We partner with local organisations and host events that bring families together, creating a sense of belonging and shared learning.

At Nido, every day is an opportunity to nurture confident, capable learners through safe, inspiring environments and meaningful experiences. Guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we turn everyday moments into lasting learning that shapes each child’s future.

Safety

Safety

Safety matters every day.
Every day, safety comes first at Nido. Across all our early schools, we work tirelessly to uphold the highest standards in safety. This commitment underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have with children and families.

We have embedded the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations across all our practices to ensure safe behaviours, environments, and accountability are part of everything we do.

Strong supervision and ongoing training
All Educators participate in an 8-week active supervision program, along with regular training and safety alerts. This ensures teams are vigilant, responsive, and prepared for every situation.

Safe design, technology and electronic devices
Our early school layouts are designed for maximum visibility and supervision. CCTV is installed externally at most of our early schools to enhance security. For the protection of all children, the use of personal devices to take photos or videos of children is prohibited for all Nido team members, students, volunteers, and visitors.

Rigorous recruitment and compliance
Our recruitment process includes enhanced screening, comprehensive reference checks, and clear expectations around child safety. Working with Children Checks are strictly managed and continuously monitored.

Professional learning and guidance
Educators receive regular training through leading Registered Training Organisations. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current legislation and best practice, ensuring everyone understands the behaviours and standards expected.

Comprehensive health and safety
We maintain secure single-point entry systems, and our staff are trained in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis care, and food safety. We follow strict medication management protocols, a Cancer Council-accredited Sun Smart policy, and promote hygiene through engaging activities. Our schools take allergies seriously, including nut awareness, to help keep every child safe and included at mealtimes. Any incidents are documented and promptly communicated with families.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

We value strong partnerships with families and actively involve parents in their child’s learning journey. From enrolment, we collaborate with families to understand routines, interests, and goals, tailoring programs to meet individual needs.

Communication is open and transparent, with regular updates, photos, and videos shared through our 'StoryPark' App. Our team is always available for conversations at drop-off, pick-up, or via phone and email, ensuring families feel supported and connected every day.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and aligned with the EYLF to support holistic development. It is co-designed with families and experts to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health, and confidence.

Educators follow children’s interests and strengths, creating hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. From Auslan and music programs to sustainability projects and gardening, our curriculum turns everyday experiences into opportunities for lifelong learning.

Great centre, clean, airy and lots of excellent resources for the kids. Well managed which is reflected in happy staff. Tasty food (that even my fussy toddler will eat) made by in-house chef and staff. Steph & Jess gave me confidence that my baby was in safe, caring hands when I had to go back to work. Now that he's bigger, Lorraine has come up with lots of great ways to invite play based learning. Couldn't be happier.

Nido Taperoo has wonderful staff. My son has really taken a shine to Jess, Stephanie and Jian in classroom 1. I love that I get great updates through the app, and the staff really seem to love seeing my son when he arrives. The centre is very well laid out, and I love that my son has a variety of healthy food during the day. The classroom is always being changed up so that the kids don’t get bored (I think that’s due to Steph!), and my son loves all of the different activities. Going back to work was a stressful time, but Nido made the transition so much easier.
