I’m super grateful to the educators and especially the principal for helping my child adapt to new environment. He is the first child in both sides and for Asian family, of course his grand parents were nervous about their first grandson is going to childcare. The educators have put up with our strange initial requests with respect and patience. After 5 months at childcare, my son has stopped crying at drop off and pick up. He eats a lot at childcare and sleep twice a day. He adores all his educators and friends and he is so much more confident, resilient and discipline than when he first started 🙏 The staffs and principal have good and constant communication to our family, they always tell us how his day been, what new skills he has achieved , celebrate the good news with us and what goals we have for his future development. The principal is one of the reasons when sent our child to Hei school, from the first time we went to unexpected tour, the principal has been warm, respectful, welcoming and attentive to our child as well as our family needs. Her teaching philosophy and Finnish philosophy are aligned with us.

From day one, the staff has been warm, welcoming, and attentive, ensuring that my daughter feels safe and loved while I’m away. The activities are well-planned, educational, and engaging, and I’ve seen so much growth in her both socially and cognitively. Communication with the team is always clear and consistent, which gives me peace of mind knowing she’s in great hands. I truly feel like she is not only cared for but also thriving in this nurturing environment. I have been very pleased with Hei Schools Dandenong North. I have seen my children( 2 and 4 years old) learn and grow since attending the centre in 2022. The Educators have built genuine connections with my children who are so excited to attend care and tell me their fun/ activities they experienced on the day at the centre. The facility, especially their outdoor space is nice and safe for children to learn and explore. The meals are nutritious, carefully prepared by Master Chef Amanda every day, and the Menu is also reviewed and updated every week the App. The Admin and Management team are always kind, supportive and friendly. When I need their advice and help, they always make themselves available and try to accommodate my request as possible. From my experience, I highly recommend Hei Schools Dandenong North :)

Highly recommended, Finnish educational system, in-house meals, fun activities, lots of learning, and great environment for the kids. I've enrolled my son 2 years ago, he's in kinder now, and my daughter recently joined too.

HEI Schools Dandenong is a wonderful childcare that provide a stimulating, safe and supportive environment for growing and learning. We have been pleased to see our child grow in confidence, skills and develop friendships with peers and educators over the last 2 yrs. We receive daily photos, videos and written updates on activities, nappy changes, nap duration and times and quantities eaten at mealtimes. Activities for the week (and which learning objectives are covered) and meal plans (which are very varied and nutritious, prepared freshly onsite by the amazing chef) are posted in the app and in the room so we are confident of the quality of care and attention provided. My child has been able to participate in excursions to the park and library and have incursions like the SES on site. They also provide weekly music and sports classes this year, which has been great to see. There are 4 rooms based on age group and children are able to mix with the other age groups at set times in the day, and move in and outside as they wish in the afternoons. The staff are always welcoming and smiling, no matter how busy they are. Upon pickup, the educators touch base with me on how my child's day went, esp if we are working on new milestones like toilet training. The children look happy and they know all the other kid's mums and dads, it's very sweet to see. Parent's ideas and engagement are always welcomed, eg my husband and I have gone in for a 1 h science demonstration for the toddlers for Science Week for the last 2 years, we are encouraged to bring in items that can be used for art/craft activities and a little library has been set up which helps us greatly on drop-off.

Going back into the workforce was daunting after having my daughter and with my background in social work, I was quite critical of the child care centres I visited. Hei School's biggest advantage is that their early childhood philosophy resonated with me personally. The bonus is that their early childhood philosophy and structure is informed by the world leading nation (Finland) in early childhood. They not only boast to be child-focused but in my observations and experience, the educators convey this through their engagement and nurture of the children in their care. The activities are actually developmentally appropriate, play-based, and even have excursions into the community (local schools, parks, and library) ensuring that the children are experiencing enriching and stimulating activites that connects them to their community. The children of all age groups are able to freely go from one room to the other, allowing them freedom to engage and socialise with all ages supporting the children's prosocial and socioemotuonal development. The children also have this freedom to engage with each age group in the outdoor play. They are not segregated and isolated and I habe observed older children showing empathy, care and compassion towards the babies. The children's autonomy, rights, and voice are taken seriously allowing children to develop their sense of self and identity. Hei is responsive to the children's needs for sleep, nourishment, and play and allow the children the freedom to exercise consent and boundaries. They also have a wonderful focus on nature play and excursions and a focus on emotional intelligence and development. At 18 months, my daughter was a shy individual and worked with me to help her transition to care. It took a whole month with gradual separation and increased time but they accommodated this further demonstrating their commitment to the individual that my daughter was. Hei make active efforts to connect parents to the Hei community and involve them in their children's everyday learning opportunities. They share photos, videos, diary entries of the children's day, for kinder -they share learning plans and intentions, events and activities, and invite parents to participate in building a loving and safe community for the children. They also are transparent with changes in cente policies and share these freely with parents, welcoming critical evaluation of these. Hei School educators are serious about children safety and have robust protocols in place for incursions, excursions and general centre safety. My daughter has developed a trusting and safe relationship with Hei School and this is evidenced in her imaginative role play at home. She often talks about the educators and feels valued and loved by them. Hei School has supported my daughter to become a confident, kind and curious individual and I extremely satisfied and grateful to the hard work that all Hei staff put in- from the administrative team, educators, and the ever-creative super chef! Hei School is an extension to our family!

Absolutely fantastic childcare centre!! My 2.5 year old is thriving here. He has a speech delay but we are already noticing large improvements in not only his speech, but also his self feeding and social interactions from being surrounded by other children and the support of the educators after one month. Each day we get photos uploaded to our daycare app, including the menu for the week from the chef, what meals our child has eaten, what time his nappy was changed, whether he did toilet training and how long his sleep was. The childcare educators are lovely and caring, each time I pick him up I am told about what activities he has done for the day, any issues and new tasks he has been able to complete. We highly recommend HEI to anyone looking for a safe and supportive place for their child!
