About Bluebird Early Education Benedict House

Welcome to Bluebird Early Education Benedict House!

Care and Education for Children aged 6 weeks until 5 years

A warm welcome from Bluebird Benedict House, we are dedicated to nurturing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for children to thrive.

Nestled in the heart of Queanbeyan, our purpose-built Early Education Service offers a haven for children to grow and develop into confident and capable individuals. Our focus on community and belonging fosters strong connections with our families, ensuring that every child feels safe, stimulated and supported on their journey.

At Benedict House, we take great pride in offering a strong sense of community and a sense of belonging. Building solid, mutually beneficial connections with our families and children is something we value in the highest regard, so our children can concentrate on growing and developing feeling respected, comfortable, and supported.

With 7 thoughtfully designed Studios, we provide holistic support to each child, recognising their unique strengths and interests. Our child-centred curriculum encourages exploration, discovery, and growth, laying a solid foundation for their future.

Our outdoor play spaces – including a soccer field, bike track, chicken coop, herb gardens, and an in-ground boat – inspire curiosity and adventure.

At Bluebird Benedict House, our Chef prepares freshly made meals catering for all dietary requirements and needs, in line with Nutrition Australia guidelines. We take all opportunities to educate children on healthy eating practices, from encouraging children to assist in selecting edible plants from our vegetable garden right through to cooking classes throughout the week.

We invite the wonderful families in our community to schedule a tour and discover the Bluebird difference, seamlessly blending modern facilities with the rich heritage of our town.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

The Kindergarten program is a complete cycle of each individual child’s development. Educators see and learn the ways children take on new knowledge and adapt their teaching practices to cater for them. The environment is busy and forever changing as learning evolves. You’ll often find the Kinder children out at Forest School, where the natural environment is the teacher.

Through many literacy games, active outdoor play, and day-to-day activities, Educators strive to get each child ready for their first year of school, providing them with the emotional, physical and intellectual support.

Qualified Teachers constantly critically reflect on their curriculum, ensuring that it’s at its best for the diversity within the centre. A home away from home, where learning takes flight with the little Bluebirds.

Centre philosophy

Centre philosophy

Forest School Program - Each week the children will travel to a local national park or bushland area, where they will be able to play and explore freely, under the discrete observation of the educators.

Kindy of Kindness - Initiatives may include visits to aged care facilities, baking for the local emergency services, and fund-raising projects to assist charity groups.

Sustainability Program - By taking part in daily sustainable living practices including recycling, composting, worm farming, energy and water saving, the children develop a working understanding of how they can play a vital role in protecting the environment.

Community connections - By forging strong community ties they enable the children to develop a deep sense of belonging and connection to the world around them, construct an understanding of how society works, and begin to recognise and respect the shared values that unite us.

Technology focus - Technology is introduced through a play based approach. Educators role model and assist children to gain new knowledge and to better understand concepts through the designated computer programs.

Health & Nutrition

Health & Nutrition

The centre believes in a hands-on approach to teaching children about food, which is why cooking classes are offered as part of the curriculum.

Children are encouraged to help out where they can, whether that’s chopping fruit for smoothies or pouring them out for everyone.

Food is used as a way to teach children about identifying their needs and attending to them. Children can access drink stations and fruit bowls for a quick snack.

Meet the team

Meet the team

I find it incredibly rewarding to be a part of each child’s Early Education journey. To watch as they grow, learn, develop, play, and prepare for their transition to school is so rewarding and a true privilege! Throughout this journey I endeavour to instil in each child, a lifelong love of learning.

As a subcontractor, I would just like to thank the friendly reception I get from the director of the centre, and the detailed explanation of what needs to be done every time they contact me, that saves me a lot of time in the long run. Every time I enter the centre it is very neat and well looked after. One can see the director is very proud of her centre
