This service has definitely turned itself around! While there have been some staff changes, it remains a beautiful place with amazing, familiar educators who continue to make it special. I couldn’t recommend the service highly enough!

My four-year-old daughter, Lily, attends Discovery at Play Shoalwater, and we’ve been really happy with our experience. There have been some staff changes, but the new educators have been wonderful with Lily, and I really appreciate the centre’s transparency and communication.<br><br>Lily loves going and comes home in such a great mood. She enjoys the activities and resources so much that she’s even set up her own little “baby room” with dolls in her bedroom at home!<br><br>It means so much to see her happy and enjoying her time there. I genuinely cannot speak highly enough of the incredible educators at this centre and the love, kindness and care they show the children every single day.<br><br>Our daughter has absolutely thrived here. She adores going to daycare, to the point that she sometimes gets upset when it isn't a daycare day! As a parent, there is no greater reassurance than knowing your child feels so happy, safe, loved and supported in the care of others.<br><br>I particularly want to acknowledge Hannah and Casey, who are two truly exceptional women. The kindness, empathy and compassion they bring to everything they do is remarkable. Their passion for early childhood education is so evident, as is their genuine commitment to creating a nurturing, inclusive and community-minded environment where every child can flourish. All the educators in the centre are fantastic. they really take the time to get to know all the kidies. They don't simply care for the them, they build meaningful relationships with them and their families, and pour so much of themselves into what they do.<br><br>The centre has experienced its share of challenges, particularly during a period of significant staff changes. But I think it's important to recognise that those challenges don't represent the vast majority of staff who have continued to show up, give their absolute best and put the children first. I saw a lot of negative reviews pop up at that time, and a lot of the issues where around how staff were treated by one specific person, who has now left the centre. Throughout that period, the educators went above and beyond to maintain a sense of stability, consistency and normality for the children. Their dedication ensured the quality of care never wavered, and I have enormous respect for that.<br><br>I also believe it's important to remember that educators are human. No person, workplace or newly established centre is going to get everything right 100% of the time. What I value is the genuine care, effort, communication and willingness to do the very best for the children and their families. Our experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have felt supported throughout our journey as parents.<br><br>The physical environment deserves recognition too. The centre itself is absolutely beautiful. Bright, light-filled, open and thoughtfully designed, it offers such a wonderful space for children to learn, explore and play. Its always clean and well looked after, and uncluttered. Having looked at other centres in the area, I genuinely haven't seen another that compares.<br><br>Above all, it's the people in the rooms with our kids who make this place so special. The warmth, patience, compassion and dedication of the educators are what make the difference. They have worked hard to start a community there and I feel incredibly fortunate that my daughter gets to spend her days surrounded by people who care so deeply about her happiness and development.<br><br>To Hannah, Casey and the wonderful educators who have been part of our daughter's journey: thank you. The work you do matters enormously, and the positive impact you have on these little lives, and their families, deserves to be recognised.<br><br>We couldn't be happier with the care our daughter receives, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this centre to other families.

Looks amazing

A beautiful new centre in the heart of Shoalwater. Convenient location, just off Safety Bay Road. The team are great and the facilities are brand new.

I am incredibly disappointed and concerned with the state of this daycare centre. Over the past few months, there has been massive walkouts of parents pulling their children from the centre, and it is entirely obvious why. The facility itself is unclean and unhygienic, raising serious red flags about the health and safety of the children. On top of that, there are almost no resources, toys, or educational materials available to keep the kids engaged or supported in their development. To make matters worse, the management team is completely useless and horrible to deal with. They are entirely unresponsive, defensive, and show zero accountability for the deteriorating conditions of the centre. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you. Some of the remaining 'good' reviews are from educators and do not show a clear reflection of the centre.

My child used to attend here and loved it in the beginning- high staff turnover, lack of communication and lots of hygiene issues were our main concern when leaving. An investigation has been requested. We did appreciate the few educators that cared and I believe a few are still there however a lot of the ones we were building positive relationships with have left. Concerns raised were addressed but not in a timely matter.

High staff turnover, lack of care and communication. My child went from loving going to daycare to screaming fits when dropping him off. Still a few good eggs left but the ones that made good connections with my child have gone or moved to different rooms. Avoid until change of management switches hands, current person in charge not fit to lead. Completely disingenuous, shifts blame and has zero awareness of what's happening in own daycare.

My daughter attended this centre for eight months, and we have now moved her due to ongoing issues that were repeatedly raised but not properly addressed.<br>I also think it is important to note that many of the 5-star reviews appear to be from staff, and staff and parents have been encouraged to leave 5-star reviews in exchange for the chance to win prizes.<br>Many of the educators are kind, responsive, and genuinely caring toward the children. However, the centre itself has serious issues with staffing, communication, supervision, hygiene, and follow-through.<br>There has recently been a huge turnover in staff. On many days, I arrived and did not recognise anyone in my daughter’s room. One staff member who was changing nappies unaccompanied did not even know my daughter’s name at pick-up.<br>The toddler room often had 17 toddlers with only three staff, which is not enough in practice and raises serious concerns about adequate supervision and care.<br>Communication with parents has also been very poor. My daughter contracted RSV, and I immediately informed the centre. When she returned a week later, I discovered other parents had not been notified. There was then a significant outbreak that took weeks to resolve, and I do not believe any notification would have been sent if I had not pushed for it.<br>I repeatedly asked for my daughter’s daily diary to be updated so I could know what and how much she had eaten. This was rarely done, and after we gave our two weeks’ notice, it stopped entirely.<br>The food menu is also concerning. Several days a week, morning tea is cereal or toast, which many children have already had for breakfast. On some days, toast is followed by sandwiches for lunch. When I raised this, I was told it was due to a grocery delivery issue, but there seemed to be little effort to provide a suitable alternative.<br>I also have concerns about hygiene and cross-contamination. The chef is also a qualified educator and appears to move between the kitchen and classrooms, which means she may be exposed to germs across multiple rooms before returning to food preparation areas.<br>The outdoor toddler play area faces the road through a glass wall and includes a gate to the public car park. I have seen children there without visible staff supervision, talking to members of the public and arriving families.<br>Although staff often gave positive assurances when I raised concerns, I never saw meaningful change.<br>I would be very cautious about placing younger children in this centre. Many staff seem caring, but they do not appear to be supported well enough to provide the level of supervision, communication, and attention young children need.
