About Sparrow Early Learning Hilton

We honour the diverse beliefs and values that each family brings to our Service and advocate for the rights of every child. We view childhood as a magical time… a time during which the true “being” of children should be honoured and celebrated. We are mindful to slow down and really appreciate the fact that it’s the little things that mean so much.

At Sparrow Early Learning Hilton, we create an environment that promotes confidence and a willingness to learn and discover. Our environments are warm and vibrant, provoking curiosity, friendships, learning and playfulness. We encourage children to appreciate, respect and learn more about the world in which they live.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, our educators provide a holistic, play-based curriculum with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences. We celebrate each child as unique and our dedicated educators focus programming on meeting the individual needs and interests of each child. Laughter and fun paves the way for learning and discoveries that will forever be recalled in the memory banks of our children.

Our team of Educators are passionate about providing high quality care and education to the Early Years. Our Educators are all highly trained or currently studying their Certificate 3, Diploma or Early Childhood Qualifications as well as the ability to speak many languages.

Our Educators are professional practitioners and observe closely, listen to children carefully and give value to their ideas and then create strategies to build on their interests.

Our team look forward to sharing our beautiful service with you!

Meet Bianca-Service Manager at Sparrow Early Learning Hilton

I have 16 years experience in the childcare sector and have worked from various roles from a trainee right up to a Service Manager. I strive to provide a safe welcoming environment for the children, their families, and the educators within the service. I am committed and very passionate about my role and look forward to meeting all the families within our community.

I have 3 beautiful children of my own & we live on a 6 acre property surrounded by amazing wildlife and bush. My hobbies include boating/diving, spending time with my family and friends and creating the most amazing upbringing for my children.

I believe it is important for each child to be able to grow and learn individually while feeling safe, secured & supported within their environments - being able to create their own experiences using their own imagination & curiosities.

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

“The Sparrow Way combines proven international early learning methods to create a unique and purposefully contemporary practice designed for today’s society. Guided by the principles of Reggio Emilia childcare and underpinned by The Early Years Framework for Australia, we embrace children’s inherent abilities to learn and develop, creating an environment for them to find solutions through exploration, discovery and invention, marveling in everything around them. The Sparrow Way is our method of working with children based on these beliefs and principles.”

- The Sparrow Early Education Team

The Sparrow curriculum is thoughtfully planned by our educators and shaped by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Being guided by the EYLF and National Quality Standards (NQS) ensures we offer high quality learning programs that are responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.

Programs are play-based, child-driven and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences.  Educators carefully design environments that stimulate curiosity and provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that are reflective of real life.

Play is viewed as a powerful tool for children to explore, discover and make meaning of the world around them. Activities are largely open-ended, providing a wide variety of natural resources and materials which stimulate imagination and foster creativity, problem-solving and meaningful interactions with friends and educators.

Children are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, such as art, music and dramatic play, allowing them to develop a deep sense of autonomy, confidence and joy in their learning journey.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

The Sparrow team values the role of families as children’s most important teachers and our educators foster positive and collaborative relationships with families. Parents are encouraged to contribute their ideas for programming, learning activities and the overall operation of the service.

Our inclusive open-door policy welcomes parents to visit our service, engage in discussions with educators and participate in children's learning. Our educators maintain open and continuous communication with families, ensuring a strong connection between the children's home learning environment and their educational experiences at the centre. During pick-up and drop-off times, educators are readily available to engage with families and gladly share insights into the children's progress, well-being and participation.

The use of the Storypark communication app provides daily updates, photos, and videos, fostering regular connections between educators and families. Parents also receive frequent communication through emails, newsletters, displays, notices, information evenings, special events, and Facebook.

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

  • Planned and delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers
  • Government Accredited
  • School Readiness focus
  • Transition to School program including school visits & transition reports

Sparrow Early Learning centres provide high quality kindy programs led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. While the curriculum remains play-based, these programs follow a more structured approach to teaching and learning experiences to prepare children for transitioning into a primary school environment. There is a careful balance maintained between child-led and teacher-led learning activities.

Our Early Childhood Teachers cater to the individual needs of each child and in collaboration with parents, ensure that children are adequately equipped with the skills and experience required for a smooth transition to “big school”. Ongoing assessment of children’s progress and development is carefully documented and communicated with families and transition statements can be shared with future schools to facilitate a smooth transition to school.

Attending kindy at their familiar Sparrow Early Learning centre makes the transition from the long day care setting less intimidating and children can continue their early learning journey in a safe and familiar environment, surrounded by friends and familiar educators. It also means families can enjoy the flexibility of extended care hours and continued care during school holiday periods. All meals and snacks are provided, adding to the convenience for busy families.

We absolutely love Sparrows Early Learning Centre in Hilton. The staff are truly amazing and look after my son so well. When he first started, he had some behavioural challenges, and the growth we’ve seen has been incredible, he’s now much calmer, more expressive with his emotions, and even shows care and kindness toward others. The environment is beautiful, the classrooms are always clean, and the children are genuinely happy every time I arrive for drop-off or pick-up. The educators are incredibly attentive and respectful, always making sure the children’s needs are met in such a caring and thoughtful way. I couldn’t be more grateful for the love, support, and dedication they show every day. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a nurturing and supportive childcare centre.

At Sparrow Early Learning Centre, our experience did not align with the values an early learning centre promotes, such as care, responsiveness, professionalism, and child-first practice. When my wife attended with our son, he required a nappy change. When she approached an educator, the response was delayed and visibly reluctant. There was no sense of urgency or proactive care shown, which is concerning given that meeting a child’s basic needs should be immediate. My wife eventually became frustrated and said she would change him herself. When she asked for a nappy, the educator responded with attitude, asking “do you want me to change the nappy?” without first checking our son. This interaction showed a lack of empathy, professionalism, and attentiveness, all of which are fundamental in early childhood care. At the same time, multiple educators were standing around talking amongst themselves rather than actively supervising or engaging with the children. This raised concerns around attention, engagement, and overall supervision. Our son clearly does not enjoy being there, and both my wife and I consistently get negative vibes from the environment. It feels like some educators do not want to be there, which directly impacts the warmth and care children should experience. We also found the centre manager to be unfriendly and unapproachable, which does not reflect strong leadership or positive family partnerships. That said, Bec has been genuinely lovely, and we want to acknowledge that there are individuals there who clearly care and do a good job. We genuinely want to see the centre succeed, but things won’t improve unless concerns like these are called out. At this stage, the experience does not meet the standards or values we expect when trusting others with the care of our child.
