About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years

Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Kindergarten year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Rezvan, and I am the Centre Manager here at Jellybeans Subiaco. My career in early learning started in 2011. I joined Jellybeans Subiaco in 2022. I hold a diploma of children’s service, and currently studying my diploma of counselling.

I love meeting new families and being a part of their early parenthood journey. I love being part of the village that raises strong, happy and resilient learners. During my career, I have learnt that when you give children a safe and secure environment and respect their unique strengths and interests, they can reach their full potential.

At Jellybeans Subiaco, I am very grateful to have an amazing, diverse, and dedicated team. Our team of passionate educators are trained to provide quality education and care. We respect each individual child’s background and family values and collaborate with our wider community to deliver educational programming to our children.

As a parent myself I understand the concerns, expectations, and the needs of families when it comes to their first experiences with an early learning service. We build strong relationships with families through frequent communication and being available and supportive wherever we can.

The centre manager Rez is completely clueless when it comes to looking after children. All managing those who do, since Rez commenced at this centre, many good carers have left under her leadership. If you love your children, DO NOT bring them here while Rez is the manager. Rez will tell you what you want to hear but has no idea how to follow through. The owners of this business have made a grave mistake in the hiring of the current centre manager. Under her leadership, this business will definitely end up on a current affairs, which is a real shame as it’s in a really good location. Please do better.

We moved to the area a few months ago and we were so nervous to transition our toddler to a new daycare as she really loved her old one, but the move to Jellybeans Subiaco has been absolutely wonderful and our daughter is thriving. The staff are so lovely and approachable and are clearly so genuinely interested and invested in the wellbeing and development of the children. We love reading the stories each day in the Xplor app and seeing all the fun activities they get up to. The facilities are fantastic and the centre itself is so warm and inviting. My daughter is so proud to show me the photos of her from the previous day's activities in the entrance scrap book and little personal touches like this mean so much. So grateful that our little one is receiving such amazing care and look forward to sending our second child there when he's older.

Jellybeans Subiaco has a truly wonderful team. My son began his journey there when he was just one year old, and I’m so grateful for the passion and dedication shown by manager Rez and all the educators in providing exceptional early childhood care. There have been countless moments that have touched my heart—too many to name them all. During his time in the nursery, Elizabeth always took the time to share stories of his learning and development with me. When he moved to the toddler room, I witnessed Linda’s gentle patience as she helped settle him to sleep. Now in the Kindy room, I see Danielle nurturing his social skills with such care and encouragement. A special thanks to Mia, whose warm morning hugs always make him feel welcome, and to Myriam for introducing him to French—he loves repeating what he learns at home!
