About Sparrow Early Learning Ellenbrook

Welcome to Sparrow Early Learning Ellenbrook! Our purpose built centre supports busy families within the Ellenbrook community by providing exceptional early education and care for children aged from birth to 6 years.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, our educators provide a holistic, play-based curriculum with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences. We celebrate each child as unique and our dedicated educators focus programming on meeting the individual needs and interests of each child.

Indoor learning spaces feel just like home and are filled with materials and resources that come straight from nature and everyday life. Activities are largely open-ended to allow children to follow their interests, use their imagination and stimulate social interactions with their peers and educators. Our outdoor spaces provide opportunities for imaginative and collaborative play and encourage children to learn through connecting with nature.

Our team of quality educators is joined by a Bachelor-qualified teacher to ensure that your child is prepared for kindy and beyond through our School Readiness Program. An integrated School Readiness Program ensures children are supported to develop the language, literacy, numeracy and social skills required for a smooth transition to school.

We welcome families to arrange a visit to experience our service firsthand.

Meet Kirsty - Service Manager at Sparrow Early Learning Ellenbrook

“The early years learning development is the window to our children’s learning journey and future within their world around them. It is the greatest honour to be part of watching each child learn, grow, and foster their skills and interests.

Those crucial moments that happen within the first five years of a Childs development are both rewarding and heart-warming to be part of. Everyone being part and involved with the children’s learning  throughout their early years development embodies lifelong learners and allows children to be confident and strong young people.

I believe communication, making memories and having fun alongside the children make every day experiences within my career the most rewarding.

I am learning the close community that makes up Ellenbrook, we look forward to exploring our supportive community as a centre and we hope you will enjoy joining us on this journey.

The passionate team and I want to be part of your second family for you and your child. We are here for just for your child but ensuring you feel comfortable and have that sense of belonging too. We invite you to tour our ever growing centre, to meet our welcoming and dedicated team and be part of our Sparrow Early Learning family.

Being part of the Sparrow family has given me the opportunity to enhance and strengthen my 12 years of experience in early education & childcare, learn and explore with a supportive team around me. I love being part of every child’s learning journey and being able to share my passion with them and the team. I am an early childhood teacher and have received company and service awards while exploring the career I love.

My goal is to continuously be challenging myself through reflective thinking and practices, and enhancing the next skills and knowledge we can bring into our Sparrow Early Learning Ellenbrook service."

About the curriculum

About the curriculum

“The Sparrow Way combines proven international early learning methods to create a unique and purposefully contemporary practice designed for today’s society. Guided by the principles of Reggio Emilia childcare and underpinned by The Early Years Framework for Australia, we embrace children’s inherent abilities to learn and develop, creating an environment for them to find solutions through exploration, discovery and invention, marveling in everything around them. The Sparrow Way is our method of working with children based on these beliefs and principles.”

- The Sparrow Early Education Team

The Sparrow curriculum is thoughtfully planned by our educators and shaped by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Being guided by the EYLF and National Quality Standards (NQS) ensures we offer high quality learning programs that are responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities.

Programs are play-based, child-driven and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach with a strong emphasis on nature and outdoor learning experiences.  Educators carefully design environments that stimulate curiosity and provide opportunities for hands-on learning experiences that are reflective of real life.

Play is viewed as a powerful tool for children to explore, discover and make meaning of the world around them. Activities are largely open-ended, providing a wide variety of natural resources and materials which stimulate imagination and foster creativity, problem-solving and meaningful interactions with friends and educators.

Children are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, such as art, music and dramatic play, allowing them to develop a deep sense of autonomy, confidence and joy in their learning journey.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

The Sparrow team values the role of families as children’s most important teachers and our educators foster positive and collaborative relationships with families. Parents are encouraged to contribute their ideas for programming, learning activities and the overall operation of the service.

Our inclusive open-door policy welcomes parents to visit our service, engage in discussions with educators and participate in children's learning. Our educators maintain open and continuous communication with families, ensuring a strong connection between the children's home learning environment and their educational experiences at the centre. During pick-up and drop-off times, educators are readily available to engage with families and gladly share insights into the children's progress, well-being and participation.

The use of the Storypark communication app provides daily updates, photos, and videos, fostering regular connections between educators and families. Parents also receive frequent communication through emails, newsletters, displays, notices, information evenings, special events, and Facebook.

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

Kindergarten/Preschool Programs

  • Planned and delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers
  • Government Accredited
  • School Readiness focus
  • Transition to School program including school visits & transition reports

Sparrow Early Learning centres provide high quality kindy programs led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. While the curriculum remains play-based, these programs follow a more structured approach to teaching and learning experiences to prepare children for transitioning into a primary school environment. There is a careful balance maintained between child-led and teacher-led learning activities.

Our Early Childhood Teachers cater to the individual needs of each child and in collaboration with parents, ensure that children are adequately equipped with the skills and experience required for a smooth transition to “big school”. Ongoing assessment of children’s progress and development is carefully documented and communicated with families and transition statements can be shared with future schools to facilitate a smooth transition to school.

Attending kindy at their familiar Sparrow Early Learning centre makes the transition from the long day care setting less intimidating and children can continue their early learning journey in a safe and familiar environment, surrounded by friends and familiar educators. It also means families can enjoy the flexibility of extended care hours and continued care during school holiday periods. All meals and snacks are provided, adding to the convenience for busy families.

My 3.5-year-old had now been at Sparrow since 2021. I have found that this centre has been very supportive towards myself and my 3.5yr old through all the ups and downs of parenting. They have provided guidance and advice on how to maybe deal with situations when they arise. Communication has been excellent and I feel heard and listened to when I have had a concern. The manager has always been easy to approach and really empathic when times are hard.
