“The goal of early childhood should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn” Maria Montessori once said, and here at Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten, we believe this to be true. Flexible routines combined with open ended, rich learning experiences are how we allow children unhurried time to explore, create and learn whilst having fun. We provide a perfect combination of teacher-initiated learning opportunities and spontaneous play to ensure the very best learning outcomes for each child. S.T.E.M concepts, sensory exploration and cultural diversity are integral parts of our weekly Educational Program offered to all children as well as cooking experiences, dramatic play, music, and mindfulness.

Each child’s interests, needs and strengths are supported and included, and recorded in their own Learning Journal which can be contributed to by Educator’s, families, and themselves. Educators celebrate children’s achievements and milestones to encourage their sense of pride and belonging, and ensure that their work is displayed respectfully throughout the Centre.

At Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten, we support and foster Abraham Maslow’s ‘Hierarchy of Needs’, by ensuring that we prioritise children’s psychological wellbeing and development each and every day. We do this by ensuring that children feel safe, feel loved, feel empowered
and feel like they belong here. Building strong, meaningful, and respectful relationships with children is what our Educators strive to do each and every day through purposeful and genuine interactions with each individual child.

The Educators at Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten are dedicated and committed to working with our families. We believe that working in collaboration, having open and transparent communication, contributes to the successful early years’ learning for each child. We value our community, our multiculturalism, and the significant role it plays in our children’s lives, and strive to support and engage with our local and wider community and
cultures in many different ways.

We will continually strive to exceed all standards of the National Quality Framework here at Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten, ensuring that the children’s wellbeing, interests and learning outcomes always remain the foundation of what we do.

Our Centre is a proud provider of an Approved Kindergarten Program, which is designed based on the QLD Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and to support children’s readiness for school.

Our Kindergarten Program is delivered by our Bachelor Qualified Early Childhood Teacher, Miss Eunice, for 7.5 hours each day and aims to support children in developing a love for learning, developing social skills, working towards various learning outcomes and becoming ‘school ready’. Miss Eunice completed her Bachelor of Early Childhood in 2013 and has taught Kindergarten for 10 years (following 3 years as a Nursery and Toddler Educator).

Children enrolled in our Kindergarten Program are able to utilise our Early Childhood Centre before and after the Kindy Program (including during school holidays), provided their CCS hours allow. The QLD Government's 'Free Kindy' initiative supports our enrolled families by providing 15 hours of their Kindy for free for 40 weeks per year.

Our Educators aim to help your child become a confident, engaged learner by creating environments that are challenging, stimulating and fun! We embrace Jean Piaget’s theory of ‘learning through play’ and strive to offer rich play environments each and every day, in both our inside and outside learning spaces, where children can explore the world around them.

Our qualified Educators plan learning experiences designed to develop children’s skills across all five developmental areas, catering to each child’s individual needs, strengths, challenges and interests. Learning experiences are play based and many are open ended, allowing children to naturally extend and develop skills as well as having the opportunity to guide their own learning. Weekly Educational Programs are sent out to parents the week before, and on display in each space for you to view. A daily reflection of learning is emailed to parents each day through our parent communication app, Kindy Hub, to support parents in engaging with their child's learning journey and provide opportunity for continuity of learning at home.

We encourage our parents and families to be involved in our learning program to help enhance children's learning outcomes and their overall experience at our Centre. Whilst we have a parent communication app, each child has their own physical Learning Journal that can be contributed to by the Centre Director/Owner, their Educators, themselves, and their families throughout the year. It aims to capture each child’s learning journey and is a beautiful keepsake at the end of each year, full of learning stories, developmental observations, photographs, and artwork.

With over 19 years in Early Childhood Education, Lisa is passionate about creating a warm, child-focused environment where every child feels safe, loved, and most importantly, inspired to learn.

A proud mum to her daughter Stella (the inspiration behind our name!) and wife to Adam, Lisa’s heart is truly at the centre of everything we do at Stellar ELK. 

At Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten, mealtimes are more than just food, they’re about connection, comfort and culture.

Our talented Centre Cook, Miss Raya, prepares fresh, nutritious meals on-site every day, with a rotating 6-week menu inspired by the diverse cultural backgrounds of our amazing team. Many of these dishes are family favourites; the same ones our Educators lovingly cook for their own families at home!

We love seeing our little learners enjoy familiar flavours, try new foods, and share healthy meals together.

At Stellar Early Learning & Kindergarten, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are deeply committed to creating an environment where children feel secure, respected, and protected at all times.

To uphold this commitment, we maintain policies and procedures that ensure all team members understand and actively contribute to our child protection practices. These include:

- Mandatory Training:
All new team members are required to complete an accredited Online Child Protection Course before commencing work with children.
In addition, every team member at Stellar ELK participates in annual, face-to-face Child Protection Training delivered by a qualified and accredited provider.

- Ongoing Compliance:
We conduct quarterly Working with Children (Blue Card) status checks through the QLD Government Blue Card Portal to confirm the continued eligibility of all staff members to work with children.

- Clear Reporting Procedures:
Our centre has strong, clearly defined policies outlining the steps staff must take if they have any concerns regarding the safety, abuse, or neglect of a child. All concerns are reported promptly and appropriately to the relevant authorities in accordance with legislative requirements.

- CCTV and Supervision:
For additional safety and peace of mind, CCTV cameras are installed in all rooms throughout our centre.
Our office is staffed from open to close each day, ensuring a senior team member is always available to support our educators, assist families, and oversee the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care.

- Culture of Awareness and Responsibility:
We foster a culture of openness where child safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our team is supported to remain vigilant, proactive, and confident in identifying and responding to potential risks or concerns.
