Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

We went on four tours of childcare centres around Civic. I have to say Goodstart (ANU) stood out easily. My LO has bonded well with educators and seems to enjoy her play time with other LOs. We chose Goodstart (ANU) for following reasons: Friendly staffs with good vibes. Wide open space with good hygiene. Good development plans for kids.

Really great child care centre. The educators here are so wonderful with the children. The staff are so lovely and friendly - you walk into the centre and are greeted and the staff know my child’s name. The facilities here are excellent - very clean and new. The layout of the childcare is perfect and every room has a lot of space with lots of lovely toys for the children to play with. The outside areas are also large with lots of things for the children to play with. The centre always does different activities with the children to keep them occupied. I like how the educators always keep parents updated with how the children’s day has been. Excellent daycare, would absolutely recommend.

As a parent, I put my child’s name down with Goodstart Anu since March 2024 as I heard lots of good things from other people. But the business cares more about profits ( prefer full time enrolment) while they claim they are non-for-profit. Please be aware if you are only looking for part time care , your needs will be pushed back. Currently, Goodstart anu has a spot for the infant room but I was told they have to give the spot to a family who is behind my child on the waiting list, just because they require five days care. And I had to call them three times to find out this decision they made for my family. The staff told me this is best for the business profit and she tried to persuade me to enrol five days so I can secure the spot with good intentions. No one ever tries to tell me when I put my child’s name down 5 months ago that Good start prioritise full time enrolment instead of part time due to business reasons. I totally understand business needs to run smoothly with some priorities, but please at least tell me at the first place 5 months ago. Feeling disappointed and unfairly with the management team’s poor communication.

My child went to Busy Bees and we had the worst experience. They were taking high amounts of money out of my account with no explanation. First day at Goodstart ANU the vibe was different. It was so welcoming staff said hello as we walked through the centre and knew my child’s name already which was so nice. Shows me all staff are well informed of new children coming in. The management team are so friendly and helpful as well as the educators. Everything is simple, there’s no large amounts of money being deducted we get sent an invoice every week that is clear and easy to read unlike the one I used to get from Busy Bees. Goodstart definitely isn’t about making profit. Such a great centre with experienced and loving staff who really do the most for the children.
