About The Crescent Early Learning Centre

Goodstart Early Learning has partnered with the City of Sydney to operate The Crescent Early Learning Centre, a custom-designed facility built in 2016. Catering for 80 children from 6 weeks to 5 years, the centre offers much-needed long day care for families in the inner suburbs of Sydney.

With five age-based playrooms and a large, purpose-built outdoor playground, the centre ensures children have access to stimulating environments. Our dedicated Preschool Program, for children aged 3 to 5, is delivered by university-qualified teachers, backed by Goodstart’s national expertise.

Conveniently located in Annandale, just a 12-minute drive from Sydney's CBD, the centre is open from 7 am to 6 pm, 52 weeks a year (excluding Public Holidays). Safe and easy drop-off/pick-up zones are available for families.

Curriculum and programs

Curriculum and programs

The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.

As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.

The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement

Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.

The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.

The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Meet the team

Meet the team

Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.

The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.

The Crescent has been a big part of our family as our daughters have grown. Both of our girls started there at 9 months old and stayed right through to preschool. The main reason we always felt so comfortable was the staff. There are some truly wonderful educators at The Crescent. They are warm, patient and genuinely care about the children. The centre itself is purpose built and really well set up for each age group. The outdoor space is fantastic. It’s fully landscaped and gives the children plenty of room to explore and play. They even have chickens, and the children can take home fresh eggs. There’s a real sense of community at this daycare. Communication with families is clear and consistent, and we always felt informed about what was going on. We’ve seen our daughters grow so much from starting as babies up until leaving to start school. We’re very grateful for the role The Crescent has played in these early years and we’ll genuinely miss being part of the Crescent community. Thank you!

We absolutely love the crescent. Our baby has been so happy there and the carers are wonderful people. We couldnt feel more at ease when leaving our first child there for the first time. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude

I am very impressed with the staff at Goodstart The Crescent. I went into their centre to conduct research and am impressed with how the director, Jessica, and staff value participation in research to improve their knowledge of early childhood. The centre is spacious and the educators are engaged and kind to the children. It appears to be a supportive environment and I am impressed with the centre's professionalism. Emma and Enzo in particular have been educators that were very helpful in engaging children for research.
