Choosing a daycare for the first time was daunting. Crest Road Early learning have exceeded our expectations and I couldn’t be happier with the centre, from the first day we dropped our son off they have made us feel like family. Our son loves going to daycare and I know he is safe and happy. We are kept updated on how his days go and they adjust his days to his needs. The Director and staff have been so amazing and ensured our son settled into to daycare with ease and confidence.

About the Curriculum

About the Curriculum

“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber

Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years

Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and through experimentation. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play including sensory play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing.

Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years

Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games, role playing and reading experiences.

On any given day the Toddlers can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.

Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn-taking, developing self-confidence and emotional self-regulation. Our skilled team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.

Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years

Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program has school readiness at its core, encouraging active engagement in learning and supporting a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

The oral language supports literacy learning and a child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's literacy development by engaging in rich discussions, reading, storytelling, dramatic play and experimentation all of which introduce new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations.

Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.

Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, are supported through group learning experiences. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Our goal in the Preschool year is to prepare children and families for a smooth transition to primary school.

Health and Nutrition

Health and Nutrition

Our centre chef prepares and cooks nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating across a wide variety of food.

Our centre offers seasonal whole food-based menus – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Abby and I am the Centre Manager here at Crest Road Early Learning Centre. I began my career in early childhood education and care in 2002 and started working at  in 2014. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services.

I started working in child care as I enjoyed working with children and watching them learn, grow and develop. It is a very rewarding job to be in. Over the years, I have learnt that all children are so different and you are always changing your teaching styles to suit each child. It is always a challenge each day but it makes coming to work each and every day more interesting and enjoyable.

Having children attend child care is important as each child deals with changes differently and as an educator, being able to assist a child with this is a great challenge. It also helps the children to develop their social skills that they may not be able to do it they are at home.

We have long-serving, multicultural team members who reflect our local community. Many have been with the centre over 5 years, we have a low staff turn over. In the time that I have been working at Crest Road, the educators that have left have moved interstate or are on maternity leave. It’s the sort of centre where everyone knows all the children, no matter which room they are in. We are such a close-knit team it feels like one big family.

The best part of my job is the team – they are so committed and positive about their role as educators. The whole team sees their role as incredibly important, helping children establish the building blocks for a successful lifetime of learning.

Our team understands just how important your children are to you and we ensure we take our responsibilities seriously. Our Early Learning Services centres has extensive policy and procedures in place to assist our team in protecting children in our care.

Taking the time to listen to the families when they do their tour and then through the orientation is vital as it ensures that the families understand that the children will be okay. Also, letting the families know that they can call at any time is reassuring. Having a good line of communication with the families, helps with this too. At Crest Road, we try to make our roster so that each of the educators have similar shifts so that the children don’t get to distressed by change.

When taking families on their tour, we talk to the family about the centre and the room that is age appropriate for their child and during the conversation we always ask about their child’s interests. The families with also let you know that their children may be anxious and then we can let the families know what has worked within the centre with other children that have been in the same situation.

Welcome to Crest Road Early Learning Centre.

My daughter attended from nursery to pre school and I can’t fault our experience. She had significant food allergies which they were able to manage with absolutely no incidents. My son is currently in the toddler room and has been attending since nursery. He had lost his hearing and whilst it has been restored he has delayed speech and significant anxiety. It is one of the places he is truly comfortable. They know all of his behaviours and can quickly identify when he is struggling and they know all of coping mechanisms and how to ensure he is comfortable and thriving.

As a young, vulnerable, single mum facing confusion and frustration with my ASD/ADHD son before his diagnosis, I left this childcare centre in tears. I was called to leave my workplace multiple times a week because they couldn’t “handle” my 3 year olds behaviour. I received NO support, and was called into a meeting with the director or room leader at the time. She told me my child was the WORST child she has ever met; and that in all her time in this industry she has never met a worse child. I would walk in to pick him up and hear educators yelling at the small children. I was told by another educator that she would blow “weed smoke” in her child’s face to help him sleep. I pulled him out and moved him to another centre where they supported me and put plans in place to make my son feel comfortable, safe and happy. My son is THRIVING now with supports in place. Looking back, now that I’m educated about my son’s needs, the actions of this day are were absolutely disgraceful. They made me feel like I was doing everything wrong, and that I had the most terrible child, which is not the case. I hope much change has happened at Crest Road, as my experience was traumatic.
