Privately owned, purpose-built education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years
Little Penguin Early Learning Centre is a 90-place early childhood education and care service located in Kilsyth. We operate Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 6:00pm, providing high-quality long day care and kindergarten programs for children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.
Our centre comprises five intentionally designed learning environments that support the holistic development of children across infancy, toddlerhood, and the early years. Each space is carefully curated to foster exploration, creativity, and meaningful engagement through play-based and inquiry-driven learning.
Grounded in the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Frameworkand Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, our pedagogy is centred on relationships, child agency, and inclusive practices. We are committed to supporting each child’s learning and development by creating environments where they feel safe, secure, and connected.
We recognise families as children’s first and most influential educators and prioritise respectful, collaborative partnerships to ensure continuity of learning and a strong sense of belonging. Particular attention is given to supporting positive and responsive transitions into and across the service, recognising that secure attachments are foundational to children’s wellbeing, learning, and identity formation.
At Little Penguin, we strive to create a nurturing and reflective learning community where every child is viewed as capable, competent, and full of potential. Our educational programs are underpinned by current research, professional knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement under the National Quality Framework.

We’ve been with Little Penguin ELC from the very beginning, and we couldn’t be happier. The staff are so caring and make our kids feel safe and loved. My daughter absolutely adores her kinder teacher and always comes home excited to share what she’s learned. It makes us feel so grateful knowing she’s building such positive relationships. Our baby’s room leader C is amazing too—he always smiles when he sees her and doesn’t want to leave at pick-up! It’s comforting to know he feels so happy and secure there. The centre recently went through a difficult time where the director left and a team of educators followed. The management team was truly professional and had the capacity to support everyone. We truly see how hard the owners and management work to create a positive and welcoming environment, and it shows every day. Highly recommend Little Penguin ELC to any family!

Such an amazing centre! The whole team have made us feel so welcome, and made moving centres an absolute breeze. My 2 boys absolutely love going there, and the incredible educators make them feel so special. Highly highly recommend to anyone!
